    Pros

NBT is a wonderful, growing community bank spanning the Northeast. The culture is friendly and supportive, and management is easily accessible. Any resources you might need are at your fingertips. There's much mobility and as the bank continues to expand opportunities for higher up positions are sure to become available.

    Cons

NBT has yet to explore the NYC, metropolitan area and below, so current and potential employees are limited to where they can live and work while at the bank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

This company truly cares about its employees as well as its customers. Easy access to senior management, great opportunity for personal and company wide growth. Very easy to make yourself known within the company. If you are willing to work hard and genuinely care about your job, you can and will be a huge asset in this company.

    Cons

Norwich isn't the most exciting town in New York, and the bank technology is lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue investing in your employees and the future. You're doing a great job so far.

    Pros

good effort being made to improve overall. corporate needs to know more of what is happening with the new person once they get to their branch.

Current Employee - Assistant Branch Manager in Plattsburgh, NY

    Pros

To begin a career in banking through a management trainee program, I would recommend just taking a branch management position instead or look into one of the non-branch departments.

    Cons

limited growth in the branch banking side, very limited pay as well. Better off to accept a branch management position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

put your branch trainees through the different departments first, then allow them to choose the best fit for them as opposed to sending then through teller training for three months then through the different departments for three months without allowing them to make a move.

    Fantastic People, Great Leadership

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

I didn't work directly for them, I was a sort of consultant but this company seems to have it together more than most financial institutions of their size. If I ever move to upstate NY I would consider working for them in an instant!

    Cons

Their headquarters are located in Norwich, NY. There isn't a ton out in that area of New York State.
