Current Employee – been working at NBT Bancorp full-time for less than a year
Pros – This company truly cares about its employees as well as its customers. Easy access to senior management, great opportunity for personal and company wide growth. Very easy to make yourself known within the company. If you are willing to work hard and genuinely care about your job, you can and will be a huge asset in this company.
Cons – Norwich isn't the most exciting town in New York, and the bank technology is lacking.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue investing in your employees and the future. You're doing a great job so far.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at NBT Bancorp
Pros – To begin a career in banking through a management trainee program, I would recommend just taking a branch management position instead or look into one of the non-branch departments.
Cons – limited growth in the branch banking side, very limited pay as well. Better off to accept a branch management position.
Advice to Senior Management – put your branch trainees through the different departments first, then allow them to choose the best fit for them as opposed to sending then through teller training for three months then through the different departments for three months without allowing them to make a move.

Former Employee – worked at NBT Bancorp
Pros – I didn't work directly for them, I was a sort of consultant but this company seems to have it together more than most financial institutions of their size. If I ever move to upstate NY I would consider working for them in an instant!
Cons – Their headquarters are located in Norwich, NY. There isn't a ton out in that area of New York State.
