    Pros

Generous benefits, cake on your birthday.

    Cons

NBTY = Nobody told you. This is a company that is run by HR. Unfortunately HR is incompetent. They have people in HR who can not form sentences, yet they have the ability to end your career. This allows the employees to run the place, and not for the positive. Management has to kiss butt in fear of being disciplined. They fired a guy for yelling at an associate after the associate almost killed someone. Nice. They say they are looking out for you, then can a guy for protecting us. Training is a joke. Get rid of these temps. Theyre a accident waiting to happen.

    Advice to Management

    Be consistent.

    Pros

Most of the associates working here are real team members that want the very best for all involved, including the company itself

    Cons

Unfair pay practices across the board, to much favoritism, no individual performance evaluation in place. Unfair work practices in all areas, expectations unrealistic most of the time, management doesn't know the actual floor functions, never experienced the real workloads required daily of team members.

    Advice to Management

Learn the floor, understand the people who truly keep the doors open everyday. In order to be successful, you have to know the people, be able to motivate, teach, show by example, upper management is veryoor in this area, if they really only knew!

I have been working at NBTY full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work here anymore. Plus unless you've worked for Coke or Barcardi or L'Oreal or another big name they think you're an idiot. Everyone should be looking for jobs elsewhere

    Cons

The company is now so top heavy with VPs and SVPs that soon it will tip over. Also you need to have worked for Coke to get a job here (and have been laid off from Coke!).

    Advice to Management

It may be a digital age but the vitamin consumer is older. You probably believed that when CABLE appeared the radio would be dead too! All the new management hasn't even taken the effort to meet the worker bees or understand what they know and could bring to the "new vision" for the company. Watch out Carlyle i'd bet your investment is going to go down the toilet. Better IPO soon before there's no one there actually doing any work!

    Pros

The overworked associates are the true gems of this organization. .

    Cons

The associates only fail because the management has failed them. It's about to get much worst. Four mistakes on documents and you will be terminated. Keep in mind. you are only going to get minimal training or figure it out for yourself. How does this place pass audits is beyond me. Somebody's pockets must be getting padded.

    Advice to Management

Drop that little MFG HR manager. She wants to fire everyone because of her own incompetence

I worked at NBTY full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice benefits, started out (14 years ago) with a strong Quality base and a sense of family

    Cons

NBTY bought the company, Carlisle bought NBTY and things went downhill fast. Hours expanded exponentially with no compensation. Became impossible to take time off despite HR memos on the importance of vacations-this was like a slap in the face. Heard ominous things from head management- such as assessing the business impact of a possible FDA 483 rather than fixing the problem. A consumer death happened because of this.

    Advice to Management

Do something for your employees rather than give them free turkeys. They prefer job training and advancement. Staff sufficiently. If you must cut personal that large crop of VPs with ambiguous titles would be a great start rather than critical quality staff, like I was. Safety and quality are not jokes, the FDA can shut you down.

    Pros

Good Industry to work in. Many of the Human Resources processes need to be put in place. Good opportunity to make a difference.

    Cons

Corporate location is in Long Island.

    Advice to Management

Look at the middle managers and listen to Associates issues.
