Pros
The organization is changing which is creating a lot of opportunity
Processes are being evaluated as is management
Benefits are better than a majority of companies on Long Island
They are updating current facilities
Global growth which is creating opportunity for experience within a global organization
Expanding products to compete in the market
Hiring in manufacturing, production, marketing, engineering, almost every area of the company to add head count
Cons
Work on some of the processes for internal opportunities for current associates looking to move within
Pros
Ego free environment, growing (and busy) company, strong new CEO, recognition that company needs to improve and add horsepower to get to the next level, no territoriality. People here are just very nice, and the recent new hires have melded in well (thus far).
Cons
Still requires serious internal systems overhaul. CEO seems to know this with a new CIO recently hired, but time will tell if this is successful. Very, very busy, but that can be a pro in a recession. Some of the legacy leadership and policies still need to make the shift to more flexibility. Currently a complete absence of supervisory, or career planning support. New training leader has been recently hired but again, time will tell.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate even more about the company mission. What the new leadership has shared is excellent and has shown great respect for the tenured employees. Would simply like to hear it more often. Excited and interested to see where growth will go in the next 3+ years.
Pros
Not a lot of people at the site b/c they had laid everyone off
Cons
Poor, Poor Senior Management. Very much into making money for themselves. Not a lot of smart people who know what they are doing.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be to fire yourself and hire new management.
Pros
NBTY provides Great Benefits for their employees.
Cons
They were just acquired by the Carlisle Group. Many Layoffs and salary cuts.
Pros
most of the people are really nice
Cons
2 high level people have horrible management styles and are just down right rude. There is a major lack of organization in how things are done.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a hard look at your upper management and possibly enforce mandatory classes on how to manage others and mutual respect which should be given to all.
Pros
Stable, until recently, not much else.
Employee staff is generally competent.
Cons
HR is extremely bad, stuck in the1950's. Management is self serving, employees are pawns - just shut up and do your job.
Advancement opportunities, if not related to someone, and nothing.
Advice to Senior Management
Join the 21st century. Flex time, empower employees - FOR REAL.
Establish technical advancement tracks in addition to the limited management slots.
Pros
Close to home
Stable
Close to home
Stable
particulary in this economy.
and that is about it...
Cons
Office is in disarray; nothing professional, old technology, forced to work in serious inclement weather, CEO has his hands in everything though the company has grown so large. No training, no inspiration, no motivation. Just do your job and go home. And I am at a midlevel manager level.
Advice to Senior Management
Motivate! Inspire! Keep your turkeysand fruit baskets and let a manager work a random day from home if there is a issue like a blizzard or a sick child. Keep up with technology. Noone uses a legacy system on the AS-400 anymore!
Pros
Good technology, but no commitment.
Cons
No career, just a job. No consistent vision by senior IT management.
Advice to Senior Management
Revamp IT - no structure, the management has no direction beyond its own self service.
Pros
One of few public companies in Long Island
free turkey during thanksgiving
good benefit
Cons
Don't consider you may have a career there. Just do you job and play politics. You may be able to live well, but not expect too much.
Advice to Senior Management
trust your employees and give them room to do their job, micro-management is not alway right
Pros
Good benefits, stable company, minority friendly
Cons
Hopelessly incompetent upper management. Downright pitiful HR VP. Nasty nepotism.
Advice to Senior Management
Find out who really does the work and reward them. Toss the slackers when you need to improve the bottom line.
