I have been working at NBTY full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is flexible with scheduling. Ideal for ppl with families (no work from home policy, yet). Pretty much 9-5. Wellness classes for the interested. The home of desicated hardworking people.

    Cons

Unfair pay & lots of preferrential treatment. Absolutely NOT the place if you want to grow professionally. HR is worst I have ever seen/heard of (lack of privacy, organization & ability to follow through). Continuous "benefit"/perk cuts due to recent financial struggles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not everyone has management skills, therefore, many great people are being overlooked and/or treated poorly by "managers". Should really be looked into.

I have been working at NBTY full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Growing industry and thus good experience if prospective candidates take advantage of some of the resources available and think outside the box.

    Cons

Private equity strategies makes the business fragile and job security questionable. The work environment is quite volatile and compensation is low for those not strategically brought under the private equity strategic management.

I worked at NBTY as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

They (barely) paid my bills. But honestly, there were not many pros to working for this employer. Oh, they give you free near-expiry vitamins, protein, bars, and gummy vitamins. It's cute at first, but then it gets old.

    Cons

It was actually terrible and soul sucking to work for an evil vitamin manufacturer as a temp. I'm really happy it's over. They will pay you $20 an hour to format documents in a cubicle 7 hours a day, and if get sick or if everyone (permanent employees) gets a holiday, you lose each day you didn't choose to be absent's pay. And yes, it makes a large difference when you live on LI not having that extra $110 in your paycheck...

Also, over the 5 months I was there, I got a few emails about how the company is doing poorer than it expected

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find another industry to put your humanity behind that doesn't make the world a worse place.

    I worked at NBTY full-time

    Pros

Halfway decent salary, 7 hour day while most companies demand 8

    Cons

Crowded, noisy cube farms. Inflexible. They watch your every move.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can keep your Thanksgiving turkeys and July 4th salamis.
