Pros
Flexibility, benefits, pay, hours, location
Cons
Certain vice-president has his own agenda.
Pros
Travel industry perks, cruise deals
Cons
9 am must start even if you have worked over nights and weekends
Senior Management's excessive cost cutting habits can harm progress and productivity
Work/personal life imbalance due to unreasonable expectations regarding workload
Pros
nice office location and friendly colleagues
Cons
lack of leadership and training
Pros
Great product. Great benefits. I had some great and talented co-workers.
Cons
No room for growth. They do not promote from within. Low morale. Work late hours and no positive feedback from management, unless in front of Senior Management. Managers are not leaders. Constantly felt like I was either managing myself or my own manager. Lots of drama in the department, too many people telling each other they were at fault instead of leading the team.
Advice to Senior Management
They need some restructuring for upper management. Many left recently because of the how they were being treated by directors and the lack of concern and care from VPs.
Pros
-Fun environment
-Young office
-Cruise benefits are great
-The potential to make a lot of money is there
- Working for a company that's growing
Cons
-Really low starting salary
-Management plays favorites
-Becoming really strict with office policies
-High turnover rate
-Unstable job security
-No room to move around in the company or get promoted
Advice to Senior Management
The management with the exception of one coach doesn't really do anything to develop their employees. It's basically everyone for yourself unless you're a coach's favorite or a top producer. The coach's main duty is to send out motivational emails all day. I mean come on.
Pros
big corporation
good health benefits package
discounted employee cruise rates
Cons
smaller cruise line than competitors
low pay in this particular position
Advice to Senior Management
leadership is good
Pros
As a shipboard officer, you get the opportunity to travel the world and visit ports most other commercial ships do not travel to. The lifestyle is much better than other ships. Other officers create a friendly-competitive atmosphere to help bring out the best in all.
Cons
Senior shipboard management and shoreside management had severe communication and leadership problems, particularly from the Miami office. Serious disconnects between corporate office and shipboard community. Do not plan to have a dependable schedule.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your experienced, mid-level officers who have experience in the company. They run the ships, know the personnel onboard, and have the best insights.
Pros
A place where you can learn a lot. The job requires a huge amount of responsibility and hence the opportunity to learn; but not from senior management but from your external resources.
Cons
Very little information is shared. Prioritized groups within the company have greater "say" in decisions, regardless of how other groups are impacted.
Advice to Senior Management
Kick Royal Caribbean's ass for once.
Pros
Ability to travel. Salary was all inclusive - did not pay rent, food, uniforms. Accomodation provided.
Cons
Long hours - up to 16 hours a day. Not too much time to enjoy ports of call.
Advice to Senior Management
Give more positive feedback to staff. Promote from within. Have empathy for the staff as well.
Pros
Work for NCL if you want discounts on crusies
Cons
The majority of the sales lead you receive are dead end with really no potential.
Advice to Senior Management
To make a better approach at marketing and to better train employees.
