Pros
It ws a job in a tight market and because we were always short staffed if you did your job (Not even well just did it...) you were generally safe.
Cons
Lay offs, low pay lousy work distant corporate management that had no personal connection to our job location.
Advice to Senior Management
I tried to offer feedback to NCR's management on many occasions. They care about one thing, the bottom line and the human cost be damned.
Pros
Flexi timings, time for self and family, transportation provided at nominal rates for Delhi-NCR region
Cons
No growth prospects at senior levels, lot of politics, incompetent managers, favoritism towards sycophant employees and HCL employees
Advice to Senior Management
Start judging on talent rather than prejudices
Pros
Great opportunity to travel, learn the business.
Cons
Company moved Headquarters for tax shelter Senior leadership is weak at best.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees more and focus on future business
Pros
I think it's a good place for students as it offers shifts. The staff is friendly and down to earth in my department. Managers are approachable and listen. It's a collaborative environment. Ample free parking.
Cons
This is a company in a world of hurt. They have been cutting for years and it's still going on in 2011. Any company that has been around as long as this one has should not be in fire fighting mode, this one is. From what I can see, it's a dis-organization on the verge of collapse.
The training, or lack thereof was horrible, it's a sink or swim environment. Shifts are long and stressful due to lack of service personnel, i.e. technicians and service planners. There is a real lack of leadership from the district managers. Management needs to engage employees to better understand the issues. Pay is way too low for both technicians and service planners. There is no work life balance. It's a work you to death scenario at least in this department.
Advice to Senior Management
I believe this company is way too top heavy, the cuts should be coming from the top not the front line. The remaining employees are way too stretched and I believe the customers are suffering. The aggressive management style is leading this company to its demise while stroking the ego of a few who will make their mark and leave. Management has to wake up or face losing some very big accounts. The best thing you can do is fire your board of directors and take the company private. This will eliminate countless unnecessary positions and save the company millions. Once you no longer have to stroke the share holders you will be able to steer this ship back into the path of greatness. Good luck!
Pros
If you'll willing to work long hours and settled for less.
Cons
laid off is outrageous for the last 5 years
Advice to Senior Management
keep everyone on the same page
Pros
Good place to receive training. Once you're trained you should move on to another company. They do a good job of training but don't reward you for your new abilities.
Cons
Management treats employees like cattle moving them around constantly. No feedback from upper management on job future or performance until it's too late to do anything. Constant layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees like people instead of tools to help you make you objectives and get your bonuses. Realize that people have families that they'd like to see on occasion.
Pros
Performing tasks beyond your role will prepare you for advancement elsewhere. The benefits are very good compared to other companies. Being able to work remotely is a plus.
Cons
Compensation is horrible and the company is old and huge so making appropriate changes take forever. No recognition is given no matter how much of a good job you do. They have been trying to improve this for the past year but I still have not seen any results.
Advice to Senior Management
If you can give appropriate compensation then find a way to improve the work/life balance or you will lose more employees.
Pros
It services and pro services aren't so bad. WCS is ran like the gastopo. If your not part of the goodole boys you are out.
Cons
Not many these days, things really went down hill after the Duluth move
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring your buddies
Pros
Good place to start for someone who is new to IT support, good opportunities to learn various platforms and basic repair skills.
Cons
No respect for personal life, long hours and expectations of work done off the clock make any sort of planning of life outside work nearly impossible.
Advice to Senior Management
Show a little more respect to people on the front lines interacting with your customers. 2 years with no raises, bonuses, and poor recognition of the job being done is not the way to keep your main link with your customers happy.
Pros
the coworkers, management not over your shoulder watching your every move, the rewards points, choice of hour, 45 minutes, or 30 minutes for a lunch
Cons
no recognition, management is not professional, all about numbers, unorganized at times, management indecisive of policies, no room for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
A little positive reinforcement wouldn't kill you. I mean the company is built on customer satisfaction & if you're not dealing with the customer then compliment the person who is. Employees keep customers happy which is what makes NCR. don't forget that!!
