Pros
A great multination with great potential.
Cons
Continuous changes in management, and in general it is not among the high paying MN. Work within NCR is extremely demanding in a very under staffed work environment.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to work more on what made NCR a great company and a market leader. The company had so much culture within it, which now has been lost with the hybrid strategies which are being put in place. I believe employees all over NCR offices are not able to relate to their current leaders and do not share the same views. In general, NCR is perceived by it's staff as cost concious organization with no more talents available to either lead or continue with the growth plan of a company which has been a leader for 23+ globally.
Pros
Very large 120 year old company. It has a lot of AT&T blood in it, without the union, of course.
Worldwide access. Promotional opportunity exist everywhere. Decent pay and benefits. Part of something larger than yourself.
Cons
Nepotism galore. Layoffs and RIFS (Reduction on Force) happen often. No real job security. There is a constant threat of a union, because employees are constantly "demoted", due to layoffs and reductions in force.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a grip on Nepotism. It's slowing your company down. Too many people have their job, not based on what they know, but what family member got them hired and works above them. Their job is protected, because "Uncle Bob" is above them, and/or is the boss of their boss. They may be the most incompetent worker, but good luck getting rid of them!

Advice to Senior Management
Very strong sense of leadership and it is an environment where questions are not looked down on.
Pros
Pay and benefits are average to good. Training is comprehensive and thorough, and many of the software tools needed to perform the job are very good.
Cons
No ability for work/family balance. We worked 6-7 days every week, 60-70 hours a week, as well as during our suppossed time off (vacation). Management was made aware of the issue but didn't take any action to correct it. Basically, severely understaffed = too high and unreasonable workload. Also, company signed service agreements with customers, and once in place, disregarded many of the contractual requirements. Parts were routinely unavailable, so customers had to wait weeks or longer to have their hardware repaired. Parts cost money, and the bottom line was more important than meeting contractual commitments to customers.
Constant changes in personnel and structure. Layoffs are much the company desire to cut higher salaries, and replace with much lower paid new employees.
NCR's desire to be an "Equal Opportunity Employer" goes overboard, as their Sr VP made it clear that there were preferences given to minorities. This was stated in a quarterly webcast employee meeting.
Advice to Senior Management
Fix all the con issues. While on Wall Street you may look good, the way management treats employees will eventually come back to bite the company.
Pros
It is a provider quality hardware and inventive design for the banking and retail sectors. It's technical back up and support is fisrt class.
Cons
It no longer shows any respect or care for it's workers. Morale is rock bottom and customer satisfaction has fallen to it's lowest ever level. NCR UK's cure for this? Tell it's staff to work longer hours for less pay. Demand unpaid out of hours work. Demand 70%+ of weekends to be worked. Make public holidays 'normal' work days. Scrap the company pension. Lowering standards so far that people who would once never have even got an interview now get employed.
Advice to Senior Management
Get out of your Ivory Towers. Try working in the field for two weeks solid, without a break and see how you and your family likes it. It is what you make us work.
Pros
If you have worked there for a while then you can get a good salary, and probably job security.
Good starting place, but advise to move on quickly otherwise you will get stuck working here. NCR for now still has a good reputation outsde of the organaisation so looks good on your CV, but word is speading on the truth.
Cons
If you join within the last 3/4 years then your salary will be very low compared to your colleague doing exactly the same job but has been there for a while and most likely has less experience and knowledge than you.
If you do enough to get through the day, keep your mouth shut and not be seen much your considered a success.
No leadership from management, in fact management is useless. You get promomter depending on how good 'friends' you are with management. They have no skills, no man management, product knowledge and do not consult teams, they do what they think is best practice which is normally incorrect.
HR side with the company and not the employer. they do not support you, they try the best and cheapest way to get rid of expensive staff and get in cheaper staff. HR have good relations with management. Outside companies help support workers against the company, in fact NCR have a very bad reputation with outside HR companies.
No culture withn the company, no team events, no canteen or anywhere in the area to eat, you must pay for coffee and is not nice.
No work/home balance, can leave you very stressful and taking your stress home that you talk about NCR all day when at home, in the pub, with family, with colleagues.... it takes over your life.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the people on 'the shop floor' They have the answers in regards to customers, management and going forward. Your managers are out for good of themselves not the company

The people not just in the Dayton campus, but around the world, are dedicated, hard-working and extremely experienced....there is a loyalty and pride that comes from having managed through so many business environment and technology changes.
Cons
Previous references (on this site) to getting rid of the "trash" in Dayton shows a lack of understanding of the circumstances that the Dayton campus experienced over the past few years (since Mr. Nuti became CEO).The Dayton employee pool was alway in the crosshairs. Senior managers (with a few exceptions) were located anywhere in the world except Dayton. The closeness we should have felt as a tight senior and middle management team could never be forged under those circumstances. The fact that there was a high proportion of employees with 20 and 30-plus years (given the culling that took place in the past) meant that we had a really top team of high performers. These were thrown overboard purely as the cheapest way to get these high earners off the books....time will tell if Atlanta based teams can cut it! Employees effected by the RIF are being snapped up by other employers even in a shrinking job market. Proof of the pudding?
Advice to Senior Management
The dispersed locations of company executives does not facilitate a spirit of teaming or a feeling that we have common goals...senior managers that were once accessible are now just a voice on a conference call or in a canned video. Leaders of different functional areas are tasked to succeed (and rewarded or punished accordingly)...however where is the spirit of "we are all one NCR"....unless you can engender that NCR will remain a mediocre company.
