I have been working at NCR

    Pros

    Flexible working options (work remote)

    Cons

Resistant to change, can not move around company easily, get stuck in one role for years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the flexibility for employees to expand careers and make it easy for individuals to apply internally for better suited roles

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice people to work with. It's a good place for recent college graduates to find a starting job and learn to work in a corporate environment.

    Cons

Low morale, very little chance of advancement. The bonus plan is a joke, designed to miss the mark so they don't have to pay it. For a single employee, the cost for medical insurance is $3090 a year, but starting in 2016 if you don't meet your Biometric screening numbers they will take an ADDITIONAL $1,950 out of your paycheck. The intent of course is to so rid themselves of older workers, overweight people, etc. My advice is to view this company as a place to hang your hat for a short period of time, but keep looking for something better because it surely is out there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your people, and they will take care of you.

I have been working at NCR full-time

    Pros

Excellent compensation for upper management in terms of bonuses and salary.

    Cons

Terrible pay for anyone not upper management.
Expect more than 40 hours a week with little to no compensation, including occasional weekends.
Casual culture promotes laziness and lack of accountability.
Every employee has a constant fear of termination.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If your company is built on the backs of warehouse workers and key-mashers, pay them like you value them. There are no distinctions between valuable employees and meat sacks.

Good training and leadership, great company for personal growth.

No bonuses, hard to find a permanent job.

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very smart people, generous time-off. Needless to say a company this size has more than enough resources to carry out projects. Office space is comfortable, great location. I would recommend the company to people who are used to the "big company" feel, however, not for you if you value a more start-up feel.

    Cons

Very bottom-line driven. Leadership has a chance to be more product oriented. Projects underway are not generally best for product but best for bottom line. Not enough training for new employees. It feels the company is having a hard time in transitioning from a services company to a product company. This change needs to come from the top down and C-level management feels very old school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While financial performance is important, being product-oriented is more important.
The environment is very normal for a company this size (which is ok if that's your ticket) but technology jobs must have a more start-up feel to get the best out of employees.

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

NCR continues to be a great place for those with talent and work ethic to advance in their careers and climb the ladder...there is plenty of work to go around. The skills you will gain here will leverage to other companies.

    Cons

Since recent acquisitions, culture is at its lowest. Senior leadership keeps the businesses working long hours, generating a lot of answers that are not helping solve the root problems. In general, the company is spinning its wheels without any progress. Work is no longer somewhere you go, but something you do...constantly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set real expectations for the business and see how things improve. Motivation through stress or activity is not sustainable long term.

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on your manager, flexibility in schedule. Lots of time off.

    Cons

Managers have the power to keep you from moving to other positions. It's amazing how anything gets done because of bad coordination between departments. The culture varies from department to department and LOB to LOB. It's like several companies in one. Be prepared to work long hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to the people doing the daily on the ground work. Decisions are made that don't take the daily workload and problems into account.

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are absolutely NO pros that outweigh the cons.

    Cons

Threats of termination. No work life balance. Unrealistic goals. Unachievable metrics. Good ole' boy network and interoffice politics govern promotions and retention. Clueless middle and upper management. Very top heavy. Very few successes, other than bottom line. Company culture does not value employees or customers. Threat customers poorly because competition is more incompetent than we are. Poor morale from territory managers on down. Initiative and motivation stifled by poor management. Bean counter drive policy at the expense of the employees that actually know the business. Corporate culture is neither honest nor ethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no advice management is willing to listen to or action.
