    Application consultant

Applications Consultant (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsColleague are nice, direct boss very good to his/her team member

ConsHard to convert to perm, they prefer to hire new staff instead of convert loyal and talented existing stuff, and project are alway with OT and pain, need to sacrifice personal time to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's better to review the HR policy about how to better keep the existing talented, your own job to review your existing staff instead of spending money on hunting the new staff everyday, this will be good for every project and also good for company, check the rating in the glassdoor, it's hard to find out the company less than 50%, it's time for the top management to review the company policy and to find out why, think about detail and find out and fix the bugs in NCS

    Bittersweet

Applications Consultant (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsColleagues are very nice and helpful. Lower level management will listen and help. Collaborative work environment.

ConsAdvancement seems to be achieved through years of service rather than accomplishments at the lower levels. Learning has to be self-taught. No time to go for courses/certification.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove career growth for high performers to keep talent.

    Beadhouse; Absolutely ZERO Management Skills

Senior Applications Consultant (Former Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGet to know a bunch of people who have the same views about the company as I do.

ConsThe management levels, from top to bottom, are full of incompetent mediocre people, who know nothing about being a leader and managing projects, whilst the programmers (they call consultants there) are suffering from endless OT yet ZERO appreciation of hard work. Promotion there is extremely slow; unqualified middle management sit there forever and don't you ever think about squeezing in because that would cost the whole of your career life. To university graduates, please stay away from this company.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour company exists only because the GOVT feeds you projects. If you really want to do something, please start to appreciate your developers/technical employees because they are the key to deliver good products.

    Bad place - Stay AWAY!!

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGood for lower level consultants, but don't stay more than 2 years. There's nothing for you to learn after that.

ConsAbsolutely zero leadership from the very top, i.e. CEO - GM level. Most of the folks are not qualified to lead, had been there since Day 1, or hired on whims and fancy. Wrong people remains, good people left in a hurry. Check out with your friends and headhunters who were the folks who left recently within last 6 months and figure out for yourself.

Absolutely zero work-life balance. You work 15 hours/day and even on weekends, all because of bad management - shifting of goalposts, directionless, whims and fancy, shoot in the dark.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe top management should be revamped. All smoke and mirrors. Clueless. Only reason why they still have projects is because Govt keeps giving projects to them - left to right pocket. Only 2 companies here for the Govt sector - NCS and STE. Worse is that outside of the protection of Singapore, NCS can't survive, let alone compete.

    Costing down bordering exploitation

Senior Applications Consultant (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGood medical benefits and 18 days of leave
Brand name especially among local players. forget about overseas market
    Slow pace and forgiven environment

    ConsStrong political tussle among teams
A lot of pressure on costing down, 'expected daily and weekend OT', low increment, acheiving financial targets at all cost
employees who 'wish' to transfer to another department are always given a very bad performance review by their previous department

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on strengthing revenue, identifying new revenue streams instead of focusing on costing down. There's a finite amount that the company can cut.
And yes please increase the renumeration

A sugar-coated local company that package like a MNC.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros-Work-life balance
    -Good boss
    -Good and affordable food
    -Lots of events for staff
    -Salary package is attractive

Cons-Environment is just terrible and filthy. Badly need a renovation.
-Time to upgrade the equipments. They are still using a dial button phone which is so old it can be consider as antique.
-Due to having a lot of old timers, they are not helpful when you need advise or help. The most common reply they use will be "Sorry can't help" or "That's not my responsibility"
    -Avoiding work/responsibility is common.
    -No standard procedure.

Advice to Senior ManagementTurnover rate is high due to the cultural and mindset of the old timers.
