They just know how to suck up to top management

Low pay, low prestige, slow growth

    Lead Consultant (Former Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsLots of opportunities to advance yourself if you know how to work the system - flattery and tai chi mostly

Overall all an ok work environment but very limited and slow growth opportunities - good for retirement

Access to flexible work conditions to enable a better work-life balance, most managers are pretty flexible if you want to work from home a couple days a week as long as you get the job done and you are not facing clients

ConsDemanding on time -- puts increasing pressure on maintaining work life balance - I worked long hours daily and brought work home for the weekends each and every one and that is because I can do real works

Senior Management thinks that too many metrics and rhetorics (and company wide emails) are replacement for good management

Politics among business unit, lack of motivation for some long serving staff, and agility to push for services to the customers is low... name any problem you have seen in big companies and NCS will exceed your expectation

Constant cost-cutting actions; mentality of employees seen as liability not asset ... or rather... RESOURCE

LOW renumeration. Very hard for salary negotiation for the next job

No fresh grad should even consider this shipwreck. Bad decision. Will stain your resume pretty much forever. No friend should even recommend this place to their friends... unless you know he wants to retire.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you are serious about promoting work life balance and rewarding performance... start paying OT for every staff who works beyond the stipulated 40 hours.

Talk is cheap and email broadcast is cheaper.

Bye and thank you for the peanuts and stress ball...

ProsZero. All policies favour to company. Employee is like a dog for them.

ConsFree OT daily minimum 5 hours.
    No shift allowances
NO Standby allowances but you must be available for standby for free of cost.
    Un systematic working culture.
No full medical coverage 10$ have to pay OP.
    Hospitalised only 70% covers.
    No ITIL process.
Work free of cost on Saturday.
If employees want rest after hard working manager will ask MC.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake action on managers who are utilising employees as dog.

    Did not stay long

    Senior Manager (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsNothing very much I can say because it is a very tiring experience. I am glad I left. When I joined, a colleague left within a week because of bad experience.

ConsPoor working culture and very much backstabbing on an hourly basis. I was working here for 3 months and I dread every waking moment of it. Emotionally drained and depressed.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe in touch with your staff. They seem to be doing things overboard. Lots of bullying.

    Keep the rest

    Lead Consultant (Former Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

Prosgood renumeration if you are in sales team
if you are permanent, you are pretty much un-fired-able

    Consdigusting work life balance
    low salary
bonus is reasonable, but since hte basic is low, its low
difficulty for negotiating salary of next job due to low salary in NCS

Advice to Senior Managementonce in a while, you will find and managed to develop some of the best people in the field.
thanks to your stellar talent management, good luck with keeping "the rest"...

    Beadhouse; Absolutely ZERO Management Skills

    Senior Applications Consultant (Former Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGet to know a bunch of people who have the same views about the company as I do.

ConsThe management levels, from top to bottom, are full of incompetent mediocre people, who know nothing about being a leader and managing projects, whilst the programmers (they call consultants there) are suffering from endless OT yet ZERO appreciation of hard work. Promotion there is extremely slow; unqualified middle management sit there forever and don't you ever think about squeezing in because that would cost the whole of your career life. To university graduates, please stay away from this company.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour company exists only because the GOVT feeds you projects. If you really want to do something, please start to appreciate your developers/technical employees because they are the key to deliver good products.

    Bad place - Stay AWAY!!

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGood for lower level consultants, but don't stay more than 2 years. There's nothing for you to learn after that.

ConsAbsolutely zero leadership from the very top, i.e. CEO - GM level. Most of the folks are not qualified to lead, had been there since Day 1, or hired on whims and fancy. Wrong people remains, good people left in a hurry. Check out with your friends and headhunters who were the folks who left recently within last 6 months and figure out for yourself.

Absolutely zero work-life balance. You work 15 hours/day and even on weekends, all because of bad management - shifting of goalposts, directionless, whims and fancy, shoot in the dark.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe top management should be revamped. All smoke and mirrors. Clueless. Only reason why they still have projects is because Govt keeps giving projects to them - left to right pocket. Only 2 companies here for the Govt sector - NCS and STE. Worse is that outside of the protection of Singapore, NCS can't survive, let alone compete.

A Great place for Family guys and aunties... Singles, stay out!

    Senior Applications Consultant (Former Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsFamily oriented benefits though the new medical benefit rolled out last month does not really cater for young healthy individuals
Easy time in this organisation depending on your taichi skill and 'managing boss' skill
Slow pace. A lot of work but expectation is not high

ConsLower pay as compared to industry. Bonus is not that stellar despite getting good performance feedback. This will really hurt your next job salary negotiation.

Advice to Senior ManagementClear those seniors who are just clocking their time to retirement. This saves more money for the entire organisation as compared to cutting cost by removing plastic cup, reducing health benefit and changing toilet paper into something of lower quality.

Organisation culture does not encourage new ideas. Your career depends on the whims and fancies of the department head.

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsOk systems, processes, product line up via partnership with vendors.
One of the best Singapore SI yet one of the lousiest in the region compare to its peers of similar scale.

    Cons1. No career Growth
    2. No Job Satisfaction
    3. poor work environment where all employees are not equally valued and respected
    4. No transparency in promotion
    5. No recognition of work
    6. Poor organisation culture and environment
    7. really poor renumeration ... really really dissapointing

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease change your organisation culture and environment. Please recruit people based on their talent and skills not merely based on employee reference. And please impove

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Better don't recruit freshers and spoil their careers.

    Bad place - no leadership

    Assistant Director (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a good place for lower level technical staff. Good project managers. Make sure you stay technically involved in the projects and avoid being "promoted" up the chain. Stay at Technical Lead level will be ideal. Otherwise you will be stuck with clueless business/account leaders, ineffective resource management and tonnes of reporting while management avoid the real issues.

ConsVery bad top management, resulting in high turnover of good leaders. Turnover is especially high in new growth areas due to lack of top management vision and support. If you are thinking of coming in as an Assistant Director and above, think twice before accepting any offer. Any level lower than that is probably ok but keep your eyes/ears open. Zero worklife balance. Be prepared to work beyond reasonable effort for extended periods.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit. You are affecting too many people's lives.
