I have been working at NCS as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Training opportunities
    - Exposure to many/different projects
    - New Technologies

    Cons

    - Minimal benefits
    - Tight/multiple deadlines
    - No Work life Balance
    - Uptight working culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Its not about KPIs/growth and profits. Clocking of work hours has lost its meaning in view of project management constrains in sizing vs costs. Most workers work beyond the stipulated hours but unable to "clock" the extra hours put in. Not a true reflection of hours spend in the project.

    Pros

The medical welfare is pretty good.
Bonus can be fantastic if you are able to please your boss.

    Cons

Totally no work-life balance. Constant loading of work, without regards to your workload. Expected to work late into the night everyday and work over the weekends. Expected to work like a robot without rest to meet all timeline, however impossible.
Help is never found in the middle and upper management, instead, you will find a lot of fingers pointing at you for not meeting timeline.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at NCS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Got a chance to interact and work with different other IT departments (within NCS) as to complete a project for client. Allow you to better understand the life working in IT industry and its areas of scopes. (i.e. Network team, IT management Team, Hardware Team, application teams, etc)
Colleagues were nice, willing to stand in duty for you if you have night classes.

    Cons

No career advancement and instructions were not give out clearly to people who are in working level at times. Salary increment is little.

I have been working at NCS full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

A perfect place for mediocre performer. You can stay on the job forever even if you produce poor quality work. A good place to work if you can work with many incompetent people.

    Cons

The company has lost many highly competent people over the past 10 years. As a result, the identity, culture, good practices....People were nice and you know the names from other depts, not much politics, everyone is committed to common cause, willing to work hard and solve problems together..... all these were lost and not replaced. The new culture is one that is trying to save your own neck, struggling to cope with never ending work, trying hard just to stay afloat....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the senior mgt is serious about improving the work culture, then they just have to start by changing their own mindset. The "everything to save cost" mentality must changed. Focus on quality output even if it means losing a few deals. Make genuine attempts to hire and retain highly competent staff, and over time, the negative image it has in recruitment world will start to change.
