I have been working at NCU (Northcentral University) full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are lots of opportunity for growth at Northcentral. I have seen many team mates move in other positions in the university. The environment is friendly and positive.

    Cons

There are not many cons to speak of. The location is in North Scottsdale. It can be a long commute for some.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The atmosphere at NCU is a lot of fun!

Great job and enjoyed it a lot. Miss it! Thought the university had great potential but became disappointed with growth

    Pros

Opportunity to meet new people when it was entrepreneurial in nature. Now it's all about numbers, numbers, numbers. Too bad it's no longer about the students.

    Cons

Too much uncertainty on the direction the company was taking. Constant changes in directions caused a great deal of anxiety and stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that if you treat your employees well, they will be motivated to treat your students well!

I have been working at NCU (Northcentral University) full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are some really good people here; at the highest level and the lowest level. Too bad the middle management is dragging the place down. Oh, and there's a pool table!

    Cons

Benefits are some of the worst I've ever had. Health insurance is very expensive. PTO does not carry over. There is a vision and there are goals for the organization but there is no direction on how to get there. Everyone is just speeding towards different cliffs. Salary is below market. Raises are capped. Promotions from within are extremely rare, they always prefer to hire outside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more to assess your internal morale. Do more to recognize, reward, and retain your best people. A lot of very talented individuals have walked away recently. Practice the values that you preach.

I worked at NCU (Northcentral University) full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Fun co-workers.
Sometimes overtime work is available for those who want it (1.5x pay).
Initial training provided gets you very familiar with financial aid (not much else though).
Good place for trading time for money. Easy work, decent pay for the work being done.

    Cons

High prices for a subpar education (except for a few programs).
    Same work every day, mundane.
Upper management doesn't have a good reputation.
Constant change while management tries to get a working solution.
Strict with rules, they go with the letter instead of the intent.
    Not very accommodating.
    High turnover in all positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide growth opportunities (or be more public about it),
    Be more open to suggestions.

    Best Company to Work For!

I have been working at NCU (Northcentral University) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The training and compensation growth are very rapid. A team member can advance their income rather quickly until they reach the highest level of the of their salary bracket within his or her position. The culture subscribes to a "Do the Right Thing" value which delivers ethical behaviors from each team member and is demonstrated by positive student experiences.

    Cons

The biggest challenge in working for NCU is the nepotism that occurs among the leadership. If you haven't already worked with the leaders or know them through social channels, you may be overlooked for a higher position despite your knowledge, training, education, and talent.

I worked at NCU (Northcentral University) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful co-workers, tvs in the office but you can't really watch them since you are working, various hours to work so you can have a little say.

    Cons

They claim they are the best employer in Scottsdale but that's not true. Yes they have a snack cart and a lot of things they do once a month to have you get involved (if you want) but that's offset by the micromanaging. I knew how to do my job, had been doing it well for quite awhile. Then they decided they'd start listening to the calls to make sure and then the number. Oh my the numbers, I always reached mine each month but during the month you'd think I wasn't going to, always getting at us to get them. Associate Directors and Directors make you think they are your friends and will cry for you but then go behind your back and 'slam' you to the others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your employees, especially the ones who have been there for more than a year, that they know what they are doing. You can see it in their numbers, we know how to do our job. Check on us every once in a while but don't micro manage.

    Pros

The snack cart was nice every Wednesday.

    Cons

Very fake environment, micromanagement like you wouldn't believe. They claim to have an open door policy for employees to vent in confidence, so untrue. Very stressful environment, everyone on pins and needles afraid to lose their jobs. School claims to be special because of one to one teaching. Your watched every microsecond of the day, surprising they don't watch how much toilet paper you use. The upper management like snakes, they will turn on you in a minute. They also have mass layoffs and then bring in new blood about every six months. Feel sorry for the people who are stuck there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people more to deal with that environment. Watch your supervisors closer. Overall, have some integrity.
