    Great career development opportunity

Engineering Manager (Current Employee) Costa Mesa, CA

ProsGlobal team. Cutting edge technology. At the cusp of accelerating the pay tv related technologies. Result focused and merit based reward systems in place.

ConsNot much to say here. The teaming happens at a global scale rather than local. Which is good for some and bad for others.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up!

Good work life balance and some interesting work but can be a dull at times

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Costa Mesa, CA

ProsGreat work life balance and great respect amongst everyone. Very friendly place to work! Strives to follow good process and produce high quality.

ConsCan have a lot of work on legacy platforms -- not very cutting edge work. Sometimes it can be very slow paced environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more opportunities to take part in innovation. Create a program to include proactive/innovative type work as fixed percentage of time.

Terrible HR department, old-timers getting a free ride, favoritism

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Costa Mesa, CA

ProsExcellent benefits and better than average pay.

ConsI've never seen such a Macchiavellian HR Department as at NDS. Your concerns and needs are not represented by this department, though they pretend to be on your side. Senior management in the card plant is not interested in advancement of its employees or fairness. There is much favoritism at play and gross salary inequities. A few people do most of the work.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire your HR director. Find someone else who truly cares about people first instead of protecting their own power base.

    Stay away

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Costa Mesa, CA

ProsI suppose it's a nice place if you're an under-achiever and just looking for a 9 to 5 job where you won't be expected to do anything extraordinary.

ConsThe management is terrible. No appreciation for good work. No career opportunities unless you're into office politics. Thinking outside of the box is discouraged. Bad vibes and unpleasant work atmosphere.

Advice to Senior ManagementRetire and go home. The current senior management is a lost cause. Also, replace your entire HR department.

Would head north if I was you...

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Costa Mesa, CA

ProsGood living in the orange county. Nice suburban area, near the ocean, in the heart of one of the richest CA counties. If the work place was better - would be perfect.

ConsToo much politics, there is no appreciation from the management, low pay. Engineers expected to work long hours, a lot of working with the off shore development teams (India, Israel, UK, Hong Kong, China, Korea...). Most of the work is maintaining existing systems, almost no new development (which is done in Israel).
Company treats employees as if they have to be grateful for given the chance of working there.

    Not a catch.
