I was dissatisfied with my work experience with NDS.

I worked at NDS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My salary and benefits were satisfactory. My best experience was with some of my co-workers. The main facility is conveniently located.

    Cons

My working conditions were dirty, cramped and unsafe. I had insufficient room and shelves to organize parts. The room was so small that I could not use safe practices to handle units. This resulted in me having frequent back problems. ESD protection was also very poor in my area. New product introduction processes were also very insufficient. It was difficult to get needed parts. It took months to get an order of one inexpensive but very significant part, This was due to in house problems and not a vendor problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New product introduction should be a much more organized process. Higher priority should be given to ergonomics and ESD.

I have been working at NDS full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Global team. Cutting edge technology. At the cusp of accelerating the pay tv related technologies. Result focused and merit based reward systems in place.

    Cons

Not much to say here. The teaming happens at a global scale rather than local. Which is good for some and bad for others.

I have been working at NDS

    Pros

Great work life balance and great respect amongst everyone. Very friendly place to work! Strives to follow good process and produce high quality.

    Cons

Can have a lot of work on legacy platforms -- not very cutting edge work. Sometimes it can be very slow paced environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunities to take part in innovation. Create a program to include proactive/innovative type work as fixed percentage of time.

Terrible HR department, old-timers getting a free ride, favoritism

    I worked at NDS

    Pros

Excellent benefits and better than average pay.

    Cons

I've never seen such a Macchiavellian HR Department as at NDS. Your concerns and needs are not represented by this department, though they pretend to be on your side. Senior management in the card plant is not interested in advancement of its employees or fairness. There is much favoritism at play and gross salary inequities. A few people do most of the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire your HR director. Find someone else who truly cares about people first instead of protecting their own power base.
