Pros
They respect rules and people more than other companies in China. Environment there is quiet and neat, which I like very much.
Cons
the atmosphere is a little dull: each person has a small space, and little expectation for promotion. And there seems to be less interaction between people
Pros
Great Training, and great/helpful staff. Management wants you to suceed, if you show them that you're willing to put 110% into the company there is no cap on advancement.
Cons
If you are not a self motivator and willing to work as hard as it takes, do not bother applying to this position. Either have both feet in the business or both feet out.
Advice to Senior Management
Because self motivation is the name of the game, I am sure that as time progresses being a better judge of character, earlier in the game will help with less wasted time.
Pros
Life-time job. It is very difficult to be failed.
Cons
Professonal Grow is not linked with performance and to be Japanese is a important characteristics to be promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more global.
Pros
Long time back NEC was very innovative company and looked big potential to be a global company.
In fact there are many good inernal seeds and resources but management style is too much conservative and not intergrated. NEC can change drastically once professional management from external comes to the top. Provide good business oppotunity to aggressive person
Cons
Too much conservative, too much domestic. International business is led by non overseas expereienced old guys.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire professional from external source (head hunting)
Pros
Green field and new bussiness opportuniites
Cons
Don't know how to work with partners
Pros
Very good work&life balance, friendly team, great benefits.Very good brand recognition.
Excellent technological awareness
Cons
Still stuck with traditional Japanese business model, which proved to work in Japan, but turns into a different story if you want to be serious about the global market. A lot of wasted potential, lack of "challenging spirit". Poor pay compared to the competition.
Advice to Senior Management
NEC has lots of potential to be the world's leading technology company, but needs to completely re-organize its current business model to get there. We need leadership of people who are not afraid to take a challenge. Please also put more resources into R&D, global marketing and promotion of NEC brand in a long term strategy.
Pros
Work life balance is good. The benefit is good. The colleagues are all nice and smart people. The environment of the company is very comfortable.
Cons
The project is not challenge or interesting. The salary is not very satisfying. The development of your career is not good.
Advice to Senior Management
Please looking for more interesting projects and clients. Give more space to the employees. Give more salary to the employees.
Pros
stability due to the big mass.
Cons
The character of the organization is very conservative and bureaucratic.
Advice to Senior Management
Challenge
Pros
Interesting and well-furnished lab facilities, and good chances to work with people from different countries and backgrounds. Awareness of new technologies.
Cons
Little opportunity for advancement when pursuing a research career at NEC. Hierarchy is pretty flat. Turnover rate seems to be high.
Advice to Senior Management
More communication between the main Japanese office and NEC's research labs in other countries. Researchers on the ground are not getting much feedback.
Pros
Good benefits with lots of recognition by the customers in Japan. Various education materials are available and no pressure from the managements.
Cons
No challenge is encouraged. Bad management, or too many people in the management positions. No decision is made, no promises are kept. Only focusing on domestic customers in Japan.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut two third of the executives and stop worrying too much about the short term goals or existing customers demands in Japan. If you need to go abroad, then hire a leader outside of the company.
