I have been working at NETGEAR full-time

    Pros

People get fairly compensated and recognized/promoted for good work. If you are good, you can be sure you'll be promoted here. I can make recommendations and implement them, rather than have politics stand in the way. If you do well, you get follow-up RSU grants every year which at other companies may only be limited to executives. Great work life balance and flexibility - people can adjust their schedules to allow for picking up kids, etc.

    Cons

No free lunch or subsidized cafeteria like many other tech firms in the valley.

I have been working at NETGEAR full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Netgear is a unique place where you can develop your career in a dynamic fashion that fits with your individual interests. Lots of opportunity to work across department lines and take on new roles/responsibilities. Definitely a place where you can learn a lot.

Any employee can have a large impact on the organization, despite it being a global company. This makes for a satisfying work experience.

Salaries are competitive or better than average. Performance is rewarded.

    Cons

Employees need to be able to manage themselves (not for everyone).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is pretty solid. The organization is "flat", so upper management tends to be very visible. I've found them to be very approachable. I'd encourage them to maintain this as the company grows.

I worked at NETGEAR full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Management
    Great Leadership
    Compensation
    Team / culture / people
    Ownership of products/projects
    Exposure and opportunity for advancement
    Good work / life balance

    Cons

If I had to say one, it would be some employees take a while to adapt to an environment where you take ownership of an entire product or project and they are used to compartmentalized structure, only work in a specific area over and over again. At Netgear, you will find you exposure broadened and if your not ready for that, it could be too much. However, the management and leadership is prepared to equip the team for success and the supporting cast is designed to ensure success, support and stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at NETGEAR full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

NETGEAR has very little bureaucracy and gives me ownership for my job and my function. No micromanagement and very good, clear direction and communication from the CEO. They promote from within and have a good bonus plan. I have been able to promote several people and reward great performers. I feel very appreciated.

    Cons

They run lean, so if you are not the type that wants to work hard, this is not the place for you.

    I worked at NETGEAR

    Pros

Great work culture, high on work ethics, great team spirit, loads of fun working, employees are considered as assets and they take good care of them, open culture, multi cultural management, consistent growth

    Cons

Bit flat when it comes to growth within the company, hardly any promotion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on having strong and stable product, create leaders from within the team instead of para shooting leaders from other brands as they mostly found spoiling the environment as well as disturb the team. Do remember old days and get back to basics some were in a race to grow management team slowly started forgetting the basics

I worked at NETGEAR as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Being at netgear was like being part of a close team of people. It was especially nice to feel part of a greater whole. I liked that people seemed fairly relaxed considering it was a work environment. Friendly people. The layout of the work floor is nice, they also have a gym and cafeteria easily accessible which was great. This is a super great place to have an internship.

    Cons

Seemed like Netgear needed improvement in the internal communication between their HR people and managers/project leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They really need to work on their self-conflicting political issues, for example, they really shouldn't hire someone knowing it violates their own rules.
