    Pros

I have started as a solutions architect and I have been very impressed by the training, the mentoring and the support I have received from my co-workers and management. It is clear they are setting me up to succeed. Actimize systems are very sophisticated and the work is very challenging. There is a very strong feeling of camaraderie amongst employees in the company and thus makes it very pleasant coming into work.

    Cons

I was promised my own cube but haven't received one yet. Also, the bagels they bring in are very fattening and have gained 10 pounds since started work.

    Advice to Management

    Rent more space.

    Pros

Seniors are very understanding and approachable , everyone can be actively involved in solving problems assigned to anyone given they have time. there is vast exposure to all possible kind of problems faced by banks in the space that Actimize serves (given the huge number of customers that are serviced ), there is opportunity to learn about this domain and technology irrespective of your background.

Regular group and team activities help bonding together and relaxed office environment

    Cons

The vast amount of knowledge is not very organized, neither are the processes or guidelines , its often an individual's capacity and ability alone that will serve to make sense of situations and derive solutions by finding the few right things via filtering out the many irrelevant. Your intuition will be of most use in solving clients problems ,and building such a solid intuition happens only over time by having put painstaking efforts and by having spent arduously spent long hours at solving problems. The compensation, though may seem competitive ; for all the efforts spent at the end of the day it is below sufficient in most cases

    Advice to Management

Invest in organizing the services front using good process management and customer management tools. By letting sophisticated tools take care of the menial tasks in delivery process and organizing the whole delivery process for clients solutions it all its phases historically, a lot of effort is saved which can be utilized for more creative tasks towards improving quality of delivery at one end and of the product at the other, towards making customers be in awe of the value add they are getting out of the service engagement and outrightly cutting off the competition that is spawning in the market in servicing this technology for customers

Of the value derived from customers due to the talent ,enthusiasm and active efforts shown by the employees who are in most direct service to the customer, sharing a good percentage of this value with these employees is a good idea to surge company gains in the long run more than that achieved by cutting short this sharing and improving market value in the short run.

    Pros

You have the opportunity to specialize or to try new areas given the right managers. There are some great individuals that listen to your ideas. Colleagues are always amicable and willing to help.

    Cons

Can be a challenging, fast-paced work environment. You often need to ask for new/different projects, they are not automatically assigned.

    Pros

The product is good, thats the main reason Actimize is floating in the market today. The founders had a good vision. Pay is good. If you get to work with strategic clients, it adds a good experience handling the difficult customers

    Cons

'Middle Management'- Being of the size of Actimize, you will not believe the amount of politics that is played here. Its all about who you know. The senior above you, will make sure you cannot speak to people above him/her with the issues you have. Company doesn't spend any money on your training, keep in mind they have specific solutions not commonly known in the market.

Performance review process is a slap on the face, it exists because they needed to show that they are now a mid tier company. neither your manager nor his manager takes it seriously, but if you have a large amount of bonus tied to your performance, the review process will definitely be used against the employee.
Regarding the reporting structure, there is no clarity who you are actually supposed to report. Manager will just talk to you once in a year, not informing you, if you have any matrix leads to report etc. Project Managers and existing seniors will tell you they have more authority than your manager basically taking you for walk until you understand the truth. On the top of that they all never seem to speak to each other about this. And despite these informal persons you are expected to report, no one is asked or takes the initiated to give feedback during your review and your Manager whom you interacted may be once or twice a year will rate you based on his/her assumptions.

'HR'- the weakest HR structure, I have ever seen. You can see that they are overworked due to continuous attrition and hiring, but don't even think of reaching out to them with any issues. They are not neutral but more on the side of the middle management and it will come to bite you, and they are RUDE!

Basically, Actimize is a place for someone who wants good pay but doesnt care about career and continue working as consultants rather than full time employees. Don't expect any raises or appreciation

Also, in case any HR reaches you for interview, do ask about vertical growth rather than moving around horizontal and how many vertical growth have happened in the company over last 2-3 years.

I am waiting to be out of this mess!

    Advice to Management

Consider evaluating your middle management rather than making it just about sales and bookings every quarter. There is an internal evaluation needed to determine the cause of people quitting so often, rather than blaming the competitor for hiring your employees

Provides a good learning environment and compensation, but lacks clear movement along a career path.

    Pros

Excellent opportunities to learn and to take on new tasks and challenges. Performance recognized and rewarded. Great back office teams. Generally a pleasant work environment.

    Cons

Difficult to develop an upwardly moving career path within the organization. Requires initiative for skills development; no clear employee development plans.

  10. A good one, but not the best one

    Pros

    Nice people

    Cons

    Long very long hours
Have to work on many projects at the same time, never feel committed
    Minimal training
    Outdated tools

    Pros

Good company, good products, good management vision and direction, competitive compensation, stability, flexibility (working from home when needed) giving recognition to hard work and innovation. Low bureaucracy compared to other enterprise software companies. Keeps tap on latest technology, e.g. adopting Scala as a main language.
Good team culture, people go out after work to drink / movies etc. Many great and smart people most with advanced degrees, from multiple countries and cultures. I would recommend it to a friend.

    Cons

Since it's a medium size company, not too many upward promotion options (more options for "sideways" promotion), limit on the number of total directors, and a bit lack of "startup" perks (no tennis table / pool table, and the only free food is breakfast on Fridays)

    Advice to Management

    More perks ;)
