Pros
benefits, global experience, internal/external exposure
Cons
work life balance, favoritism for under preforming employees
Advice to Senior Management
::work load distribution
::remove employee from positions who do not preform
Pros
As most folks will say, its the people who make any workplace bearable, Nike is not different, there are some wonderful folks who work there and are doing a great job.
The problem more times than not are unreasonable timelines that are set for some of the releases and upgrades. You've got a talented few, with help from offshore trying to get work done that really requires a few more bodies that management is willing to resource, so consequently people are working more hours, getting stressed out and not being as productive as they can be and the family life balance that's talked about can be minimal depending on where you are in an implentation or upgrade.
Cons
Long hours, although expected get a bit old after time and work life balance, at least on the IT side of the Business is minimal.
Senior management sets unreasonalbe deadlines and will not sway unless the issue is so bad that it may cause some ill effect for the company as a whole as well as a lack of integrity that some in Senior leadership display from time to time.
Advice to Senior Management
Set realistic goals and timelines, listen to what the " foot" soldiers are saying, they're closet to the action, listen, they'll be honest and open with you and let you know what the real issues are and whether some of the timelnes can be met.
Pros
Great benefits, gyms on campus, annual wine sale, lots of super talented people, product discounts, if you are good at establishing and maintaining relationships- its the place for you
Cons
works on a matrix- so too much design by committee, lack of clarity sometimes in roles and how teams work together, very boys club- not many women in upper management, abuse of bad work lingo that doesn't really mean anything, too much time wasted on "socializing" your ideas with bad powerpoint decks
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure to recognize employees that are truly making adding value to the company no matter what role they're in. Really think about what you are asking people to do before setting people off in endless spin/fire drills.
Pros
Outstanding resources for product development and support.
Cons
Internal backstabing and lack of senior support.
Advice to Senior Management
Support the newly hired with more social contact with senior associates and peers. Senior manager need to manage with the associates and get involved.
Pros
great benefits, nice mix of different employees, great company culture, teamwork was plentiful, got to love the swoosh. GReat job
Cons
there were occasions where people would come to work after having a couple drinks early in the morning. Not sure why but they did.
Advice to Senior Management

Advice to Senior Management
The mangement team is doing a great job at keeping the brand relevant.
Pros
Good Work Life Balance
Average salary compared to Market but good ESP, Bonus and Employee Store discounts
Cons
Very conservative culture
Not open to ideas
Advice to Senior Management
Identify leaders and provide opportunities for growth and career advancement.
Pros
Great work environment, beautiful campus, cafeterias, fitness centers. Very good benefits and PTO. Obviously a globally respected company.
Cons
It's a boys club. Women are often overlooked for promotions within the company. Just look at leadership teams and the history of promoting women. I've seen a couple of other posts here about it's not what you know, it's who you know. Completely true. There's a couple of very powerful political groups within Nike and if you're in with them and kiss the right ass you'll go places. Too many qualified people overlooked for promotions who are deserving of them. The company has changed a great deal, and not for the better the past 18 months. It used to be a real special place to work, now it's just a place to work. Sad because it was really, really good. Many veterans are not respected despite what people like Nelson say.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop getting rich on the backs of everyone else. Seriously. Open your eyes to the people around you and stop promoting your friends and the people who have their heads stuck up your behinds.
Pros
Gym
Campus in Beaverton is gorgeous environment to work
Covered parking garage - a must in rainy Oregon
The food in the campus cafeterias is awesome
Employee Stores (50% off retail)
Employee Sample sales
Cons
It comes down to who you know and what people and cliques you're aligned with as to how your career "inside the berm" will go. Also helps greatly if you're an avid runner, cyclist, or work out at the gym all the time so you'll get to network more. This is a networker's paradise and that's how you find out about things going on. There were some projects there that were a huge joke as far as their success was concerned but people involved will keep those projects relevant to protect their little kingdoms.
Advice to Senior Management
The really top management at Nike doesn't know what's going on and the people under them won't be honest and filter bad news upward. I worked on a project for 3 years, took notes at every weekly meeting, and when I left, they were still spinning on the same topics I had been taking notes for when I started work on the project!! Lots of talking at meetings but things just don't get accomplished.
