I worked at NJVC full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance is feasible if you're on the contract. Salaries tend to be good for the area. Good people, many who stay because of salaries, but are dissatisfied with the poor upper management.

    Cons

President who essentially required his son to be hired, when he did not have any relevant skills and who constantly did not show up for work, or showed up and had inappropriate behavior. Managers overlooked the issue, while peers had to deal with the challenging co-worker, for whom they essentially needed to do the work due to his incompetency and 'issues'. President plays favorites, having promoted the Director of Comms from an Admin role, jumping her many levels, despite inability to write or have any previous Corporate Comms or Marketing expertise. Senior leaders that play the corporate game, but are technically incompetent survive at this IT company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Chenega, clean up your NJVC unprofessional organization, and start at the top. Stop spending large amounts of money to send Senior Execs fishing in Alaska.

    Pros

Good company to work for if you don't have a lot of experience. They tend to pay good at the beginning of contract awards

    Cons

Due to mismanagement of budgets they start to cut benefits like PTO and training opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start hiring leadership that have an interest in their employees. HR needs to compare their benefits to other contractors.
