I have been working at NORDAM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company with a small company mentality. Appreciates everyone and treats them as family. I believe opportunities are there that make the effort to go above and beyond.

    Cons

Volatile industry. As long as you work to diversify your overall knowledge and expand your presence, you are appreciated; however, if you become content with your job and choose not to go above and beyond, you employment could be in jeopardy.

    Advice to Management

Plan a little better for down times. Significant measures have been installed to accommodate current stakeholders through diversification and proactive willingness to transfer internally in order to save jobs.

    Pros

Great Training and great hands on experience Lots of great tours and divisional luncheons to find out about the company

    Cons

Aerospace industry fluctuates, so jobs are not as set in stone as I would like

I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company that stays competitive with employee benefits and compensation.

    Cons

The threat of a lay-off is ever present due to the volatility of this industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep stakeholders interested. Give them opportunities to grow, or at least move laterally. Don't let them become stagnant or complacent.

  6. Great Company! Would go back again.

    Pros

An energetic company with great benefits. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Subject to the roller coaster economies of the aerospace and aviation industries. My difficulty was with my supervisor. I gave my ALL to the company & department. But I was treated with only marginal consideration/respect from my supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to challenge employees mentally (not physically). Check your turnover at each level of supervision. While departmentally our group turnover was low, turnover in the department I was in was 100%.

    Pros

The work schedule is very flexible The work is pretty interesting There is use of some state-of-the-art technology in manufacturing.

    Cons

The commute for me is very long. The location is very remote (which makes for the long commute) The opportunities for me to learn and develop professionally sometimes seem limited. The people are fine, but not necessarily very "fun" to work with.

    Advice to Management

The upper leadership doesn't communicate to stakeholders very often - even an update email would be nice from time to time.

I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are progressive and understand the need to stay innovative.

    Cons

They staff up and then lay off when times are lean.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at NORDAM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Loved the work. Kind of political.

    Cons

Has a tendency to over hire, then lay off. I was caught up in that.

    Advice to Management

    Better staff planning.

I have been working at NORDAM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and helpful. One perk is that there are half-day on every Friday. There's usually not any overtime. Hours are pretty flexible as long as you put in the 40 for the week.

    Cons

It doesn't seem like that great of a place for moving up. The family holds all of the top positions. It's somewhat restrictive on personal career progress.

    Advice to Management

Make positions more known instead of just using word of mouth. It keeps good talent from moving up and it makes younger people avoid staying long term.
