Pros – My salary is good compared to similar positions, they have Kaiser (medical insurance), dental and vision at a reasonable rate, 11 paid holidays, 15 paid time off days and company matching 401K plan (50% for the first 6% of your income). As much as I dislike the lack of a mission and lack of direction, I do enjoy the freedom.
Cons – There is a total disconnect between department heads. The executive team has not created any mission or direction for the company leaving everyone up to their own discretion. This has created a chaotic environment without any controlled or managed systems. Some of the brands that were merged into creating Core Brands lost their culture - cultures that kept loyal motivated employees. Core Brands' culture is that it has no culture. The worst part of all is that all of this is translated to their customers. Unfortunately, the customers are being affected the most and have to deal with late orders, service issues, customer service issues, and more.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees. Hold open session meetings and ask for opinions and ideas. Create a company culture - one that creates loyal and motivated employees. Especially create a culture that all of the leaders fully understand and implement so there is consistency among all of the departments. Pay attention to your middle management and don't just take their word for it. Ask your customers. Check the numbers for every department.
