    Pros

Getting Paid. Laxed Rules. New Company. Telecommuting. Nice
Overall this is a good company to work for. They give you access to additional resources to help further your career. More than I can say for anyone else.

    Cons

HR. This company has the worst HR in the world! The web portal is a nightmare and you can not have your company email on your phone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, keep doing what you are doing. You are not doing the worst.

I have been working at NTT DATA Americas full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Get to work remotely, you are able to build apps the way you like to and teams are fairly small, so get to know them pretty quickly. Pay is good and has some nice benefits.

    Cons

Management has gone through a lot of turnover lately, new team running everything is very unprofessional and communication is terrible. The company has a sink or swim mentality, if you never had Sitecore experience they are TERRIBLE at training you. When I started, no once follows up with you and communicates what you are going to be working on, a PM will just one day tell you that you are on a project. No one there gives any technical documents or gives an overview of project, just here is your section and finish it in two days or so. Last straw was, my project was coming to an end, they hired new people for a project that started, so when mine comes to an end, I'm left with no work. Here is the important part. They only allow 2 weeks on bench, then you are on unpaid leave. I have worked for 2 major consulting firms and I have never worked for a company that gives you such little time on the bench. Upper management keeps telling developers that you need to find work..... seems like all upper management does is watch over you, but doesn't help out.

These people are horrible at resource management, communication and leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to handle your resources. You toss aside people like they are nothing, there is a reason why you are losing clients and credibility, you do not value your resources. Invest in them and figure out a way to retain them. Stop thinking that people with 8 years of experience can be replaced with someone who never used Sitecore and expect to be competitive.

I have been working at NTT DATA Americas full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work culture. Everybody pitches in. The company has built some great offerings and acquired some outstanding companies to enhance those capabilities.

    Cons

No real strategy for growth in some areas of the company. It's "go sell more" basically. Sr management is very reactive and manages to the latest quarterly results. Rarely take a long term view for growth.

I have been working at NTT DATA Americas full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a company with countless examples of very high performing employees that are carrying this company on their backs, typically without any support from their hard line management or executive support in North America. The IT capabilities of the approximately 6,000 North American workforce are enormous and a foundation upon which future successes could be built.

    Cons

There are no redeeming qualities for this under performing company. Executive management lacks vision and skills to manage a consulting business. Claims of "Top 10 Global IT Services company" is to be kind ambitious with comparisons to Accenture, IBM GS, HP-EDS & CSC without merit. Company culture is continuation of Carritor with many managers remaining and unable to transition to a true global company. Policies, strategies and approach to marketplace out of touch with clients, employees and prospects.

Executive management is ineffective in instituting an atmosphere to drive future successes. Solution areas are shell organizations with slide decks and few market offerings. Field teams are largely unsupported by the larger enterprise and often saddled with the most inappropriate management teams imaginable. The strength of the organization is within the experienced employees that provide the client solution support that allows the company to keep the lights on. Without solutions or products, this company relies exclusively on the talents and capabilities of the workforce to satisfy client needs but these folks toil without any hope of pay increases or promotional opportunities.

Company takes a just-in-time approach to all aspects of the business. Investments in people and R&D is laughable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

WAKE UP PEOPLE. You have a very unhappy workforce that is actively taking their acquired talents to your competitors. You have Delivery Management problems that are exacerbating these issues and hastening the departures. It isn't uncommon for individuals to take pay cuts and/or huge personal disruptions to their lifestyle to escape this torturous work environment. Clients are speaking with their movement towards competitors as they can see the company propaganda supersedes actual capabilities. The organization lags behind competitors in every measurable category and yet management continues to forgo investments to support future business development. 2005 was a nice year but not a benchmark for perpetual successes.

You have lost sight of your company assets, enabled and supported inexcusably poor management, and now must face a change in course to remain relevant. WAKE UP ALREADY.!!!
