Pros
Great place for state-of-the-art research, rich research fields, friendly work environment among colleagues, lots of opportunities for publication/presentation/forum etc., flexible work time, collaboration with other research labs within NTT is possible.
Cons
As a foreigner, you may feel the limitation on your career growth opportunity. Communication in English was not very effective. It turned out that I found it easier to work on my Japanese instead of communicate with people in English. If you consider a full-time position, fluent Japanese is a must.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open-mined to foreign researchers. Say things earlier and more explicitly if you want to correct things or change directions.
Pros
- Your work hard will keep you a secure job
- Company has very strong financial status as held by Japanse government
Cons
- Good result doesnot mean good evaluation
- local employees have less career opportunity comparing with Japanese ones
Advice to Senior Management
Management should give equal career oppotunity also to local employees, listen more to their voices.
Sit in one's heart not on one's head, please.
Pros
- Aggressive and well-placed for the DC market
Cons
- sometimes long working hour
- Major cut in resources after Japan earthquake
- Too hierarchical
Advice to Senior Management
- More open to open subsidiary
Pros
good place to learn stuff if you hit the right teams/dept
Cons
upper management is near the bottom
Advice to Senior Management
I cant understand why NTT MSC keeps dead wood.
Pros
A Japanese firm with long history, management style is very japanese, with good team spirit and good mentor guiding policy. Very talented ppl around working with you.
Cons
With limited grown space, not so suitable for young newly gratuated students want to work hard play hard. No grow room for foreigners.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe more open minded, don't set bondoury between foreigners and japanese. Top talent programe is suggested to motivate young talents.
Pros
well, NTT is a big telco, if i am not wrong, it should be the biggest telco in Asia. Their IP / MPLS coverage is very strong in Asia, and O. k coverage for the U S and Europe region. Able to get some exposure to big projects, on the design, deliverable, and maintenance.
Cons
The culture is very political and unfortunately a bureaucratic approach of working. There is red tapes everywhere. It is very hard to climb the corporate ladder or have the same empowerment. There are many processes involved just to get things done, of which it is really frustrating.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the ground level more and be more open to feedbacks
Pros
If you are interested in Japanese or Japan, it's a great place to work.
Cons
Japanese culture, hierarchy etc, all the traits commonly seen in Japanese company.
Advice to Senior Management
Better pay people based on their skills rather than how long they worked in the company..
