    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Atsugi (Japan)

ProsFantastic experience, learning from the best.

ConsI don't have in mind disadvantages for the company. Only maybe, the fact that when you are employee you might work over hours due to the work culture.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great place for a 2-year postdoc

    Postdoctoral Research Associate (Former Employee)

ProsGreat place for state-of-the-art research, rich research fields, friendly work environment among colleagues, lots of opportunities for publication/presentation/forum etc., flexible work time, collaboration with other research labs within NTT is possible.

ConsAs a foreigner, you may feel the limitation on your career growth opportunity. Communication in English was not very effective. It turned out that I found it easier to work on my Japanese instead of communicate with people in English. If you consider a full-time position, fluent Japanese is a must.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more open-mined to foreign researchers. Say things earlier and more explicitly if you want to correct things or change directions.

Advanced but not the most engaging.

    Researcher (Former Employee)
    Yokosuka, Kanagawa (Japan)

ProsNTT is one of the largest communication companies in the world. Therefore, state-of-the-art research facilities were to be expected. The work culture was fairly laid back as it was a research and development company, and co-workers were intelligible persons always ready to help.

ConsThe bureaucracy was quite troublesome. NTT has been around for a while, and their style hasn't changed much. Often, as younger members of teams stand up to state their idea, they are shot down without much interest from the senior members.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the younger members of the team. Some absolutely fantastic ideas come from their fresh perspective.

Good long term employer with a steady revenue stream

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsStable employer with good values and work life balance. Compensation is above average.Suits the salaried man with long term tolerance for ambiguity.

ConsLack of diversity in views and too many long term employees who cannot go anywhere else. Hence a sense of negativity and dis-empowered thinking prevails. Management is also exclusively Japanese and changes often causing oscillating policies. Not a place if you are the upwardly mobile sort.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease diversity and broaden thinking. Learning good English may be a place to start.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

    Engineer (Current Employee)

Pros- Aggressive and well-placed for the DC market

    Cons- sometimes long working hour
    - Major cut in resources after Japan earthquake
    - Too hierarchical

Advice to Senior Management- More open to open subsidiary

    A Japan Company - NTT

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Motomura, Tokyo (Japan)

ProsA Japanese firm with long history, management style is very japanese, with good team spirit and good mentor guiding policy. Very talented ppl around working with you.

ConsWith limited grown space, not so suitable for young newly gratuated students want to work hard play hard. No grow room for foreigners.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaybe more open minded, don't set bondoury between foreigners and japanese. Top talent programe is suggested to motivate young talents.

    NTT the good and bad.

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsIf you are interested in Japanese or Japan, it's a great place to work.

ConsJapanese culture, hierarchy etc, all the traits commonly seen in Japanese company.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter pay people based on their skills rather than how long they worked in the company..
