Cons
no downsides...u will have problems only if u are not interested in digital hardware...not a good company for software guys
Advice to Senior Management
i think the company is doing well...only problem is that they should involve offices outside US in marketing(not sure though)
Pros
Pay for performance. No Red tapism. Professional environment.
Cons
Revise Pay per industry standard
Advice to Senior Management
Nil
Pros
Leadership at NVIDIA brings the best out of each nvidian
Cons
Nothing I can see as a CONS at this point of time...
Advice to Senior Management
Not at this time , so would like to reserve the comments
Pros
Always on the cutting edge, always busy. Never a dull moment. No laggards. Everybody works hard, and for the most part, mutual respect for technical competence is there. Wonderful opportunity to learn new and old technologies.
Cons
Long term planning for individuals and teams is non-existent. This leads to attrition. Also very stressful environment mainly because of lack of planning, and secondly because of too few engineers to do too many projects.
Advice to Senior Management
Be very transparent about focal review process and be very objective in pay hikes and promotions.
Pros
Lots of Bright people, cool technologies
Cons
Taxing at times, still a small company mentality
Advice to Senior Management
When Nvidia is looking to enter into volume spaces like Mobile, tablets they should think like volume provider and not like Niche player
Pros
Nvidia - Bangalore is a great place in terms of culture , work and learning. Lead by a really good director and a fairly good senior management team (HR , ADMIN etc) who give you the freedom to work like the way you want to as long as you perform well. So far they have been good at keeping Politics as low as possible. Hope that continues.
Apart from the above , opportunities to work on cutting edge technology , travel abroad and good mentors make this a great place to be.
Cons
Survival of the fittest all the time !
Once you stop performing its hard to survive at Nvidia. Sometimes folks just need a break !
Advice to Senior Management
Open up communication more than what it is now!
Pros
- *Used to* have some of the best talents in the world
- Arbitrary work assignments leading to few lucky people getting good work regardless of experience
- Best place to work for 1-2 years if you want to do MS/Phd later
- Company has overall a good reputation outside
- One of the best CEO's around the world
Cons
- No or very limited employee benefits and rewards
- Too many project cancellations . company is on the downfall from last 3 years
- Too many managers and leads than working force leading to more work per employee
- Company makes sure that it wouldn't give any compensation / benefits to retain the employees
- Lot of politics. Work contributions are not valued. What is more valued is how many managers and HR contacts does one have
- Slipping the deadlines has become a habit for the company. Unrealistic project deadlines leading to more stress on already lean work force.
- Local managers don't encourage new ideas or methodologies
- Outdated and very old technology and methodology flows
- Core-values are only meant to be on slides. If followed strictly, it leads to total isolation from the team
Advice to Senior Management
It's time for a cleansing ritual. Clean up the middle-level management. Maintain adequate manager to employee ratio. Feedback from the employees should be taken seriously. Have a strategic and *sensible* road map.
Pros
Good Salary
Good Infrastructure
WFH facility
Cons
1. No place for new or great ideas. Putting wings on a Train and are feeling that it will fly is the mantra of nvidia India.
2. No Documentation. Read scripts to understand the flow and read RTL to think about the spec.
2. No growth oppurtinities. Even if you are having 10years of experience and are more capable, they will make you busy in digging and filling type of work. { Three positions: Design Engineer, Sr Design Engineer, <BIGGAP>, Manager }
3. No Team work. Your manager itself will start competing with you in Work. Information sharing within the team is discourged by most of the managers here.
4. Missing Leadership skills. There are more managers than leaders. No way to give feedback to higher management. Like a government company.
5. Very high resistance for any change from flow or design perspective. Very bad technology flow...
6. Heavy mail traffic but no work.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Create Leaders and not Managers, As Leaders can take nvidia up while managers can make their managers happy.
2. Local Management is good in politics than in their management skills.
Pros
1. Nice colleague ... Few of the best brains from the premier institutes of India
2. Zero office politics ...
3. Awesome office ... the new office is beautiful
4. flat organization structure
Cons
1. Some of middle level managers either don't know how to manage or micro-manage people
2. Sometimes they forget to increase your salary
3. Usually heavy workload
Advice to Senior Management
1. Learn how to manage people, then make people managers
2. Understand people's expectations
3. blah blah blah blah blah
Pros
Highly technical work
Great benefits package and working conditions
Excellent peer group with no politicization
Cons
Little career advancement
Less options in terms of variety of work
Compensation low in proportion to the work expected
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open to negotiate compensation with juniors
Try to get more exciting products/projects and tasks for juniors
