    Pros

The company was very open-minded on how to be the best. If you had a good idea, could back it up they gave you the reins and budget to try it. While every place has politics, for the most part, it was not tolerated. And good people progressed in the company. Management truly tried to keep everyone, at all levels, focused on the company's objectives and informed on developments

    Cons

The company has been acquired and is now very different. Most of the former management is gone.

    Pros

Good exposure to buy/sell side clients on wall street. Younger team with decent social environment. Learn a lot related to electronic markets.

    Cons

Salary isn't as competitive as buy/sell side firms. People tend to be very busy so you must fend for yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a stronger career management program, and shift a larger portion of the variable compensation to base base.

    Pros

Plenty of technology around if you want to learn, every team has something you can pick up. Exposure to Development, Business, IT Operations.

    Cons

The Chicago office always affected by New York turf protections despite the technology brain trust and skills being mostly with the Chicago staff. Since being bought, everything being relocated to Atlanta.

I worked at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great brand and culture prior to ICE. In general a fun place to work on the technologies side. Compensation and experience is great.

    Cons

Since ICE acquired everything has been downhill unfortunately. They've sold off many lines of business and at the moment, most people's jobs are in jeopardy of being cut. ICE has high profit margins and don't really care about work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much to say as upper management don't have a lot of control over all the current shakeups that have been occurring due to the ICE acquisition.

    Pros

Known brand recognition and dynamic environment.

    Cons

Too much change as of late. There is a lack of direction and knowing whether your job is secure or not is unsettling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more with your employees. This is not needed at the Executive Level but at a Managerial level.

    Pros

    -Smart people
    -Great pay
-Quick advancement with the right manager and ambition
    -Great benefits

    Cons

    -Long hours
    -Excessive politics
    -Heavily silo'd organization
-Some really smart people go underutilized

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Kill the politics. Knock down the silos. You have (or had before ICE buyout anyway) some really brilliant people that could do amazing things without the politics getting in the way. Multiple times I saw teams fighting to own a process to get budget, or multiple teams building out the same tool or reinventing the wheel when it wasn't necessary.
