I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Phenomenal experience. The best people in their respective departments get in to the NYSE Euronext. But the added bonus is the company morale. There is absolutely no arrogance or pride. It is a big team and at times a family. I really cannot overstate how wonderful it is to work here.

    Cons

The buildings are hard to navigate :-)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing everything you are doing. Especially the CEO & COO. Leading by example, you run the best company many of us have every worked for. Thank you.

I worked at NYSE Euronext as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

NYSE is great to get your feet wet on wallstreet. Learn all you can and take it for everything its worth. It looks great on a resume but don't expect to retire here.

    Cons

Low Salaries and consultants take forever before being offered full time positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees. Make sure that Consultants go to the christmas party since after all they did work ALL YEAR alongside the employees.

I worked at NYSE Euronext as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Prestigious, recognizable, interesting work, decent pay. Really enjoyed the work I did there, as well as the accessibility to the trading floor

    Cons

Not a lot of cross-functionality, somewhat limited internship program.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext part-time for less than a year

    Pros

NYSE Euronext is a very professional and competent company where everyone knows their role and they perform that role well. Despite this professional culture, it is still a very relaxed atmosphere and people are very friendly. I also enjoy the history of working here and after a year, I still get a kick out of photobombing tourists on my way in and out of the building.

    Cons

Not a lot of inter-departmental collaboration. I think this might be due to the physical office environment where departments are separated segregated on different floors in different buildings. Upward mobility also seems slow because many people stay for 10, 20, 30 years.

I worked at NYSE Euronext full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Visibility, exposure can be a plus. Sits at the center of the financial world. Access to high profile clients and potential to build significant network

    Cons

Too many too list. Unless you are on the 6th floor or want to coast through your career and rot your brain don't sign up. The place is filled with mediocre middle managers who are protecting each other and being ignored by the small team at the top.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay more attention to the role you were meant to play - raising capital for issuers. Stop obsessing with HFT and trading and focus on serving investors with a fair market and no rebates

I have been working at NYSE Euronext

    Pros

Many of the people are bright and motivated, great ideas, lots of untapped creativity.

    Cons

Management of the firm is grossly incompetent and perpetually at war. Politics are the rule, few in senior management understand the business, the customer, or the products. Most have no idea how to lead or how to execute. The company has killed the business of every company it has acquired in the startup space. The business case study for the exchange should read "How to lose your company by focusing on things that are not your core competency, and letting your core capabilities die on the vine"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To ICE - cut the head off this company..clear cut management and identify new blood to lead people in a collaborative, modern management style. Sell assets that are non core and save yourself a ton of headaches.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext

    Pros

Name, Prestige, History, People, Technology, Experience

    Cons

Hours, Effectiveness of Management, Collaborative Skills between Teams, Management looking out for Management, bringing in new personnel/consultants instead of looking/placing from within

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

NYSE was a wonderful environment where I have enjoyed many wonderful years and have gained a great deal of experience. However, the new environement is too siloed, no input from middle management up, new management believes that only the new personnel have value and personnel with history and understanding are too old and not as useful.
