I worked at Na Hoku full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Entry level job so pretty much anybody can work there. If you need something to tide you over till you find a real job go for it. There are always openings.

    Cons

It is very aggressive and cut throat. Not just by employees but by management as well.you will be screamed at and degraded. If the manager wants the sale they will take it. Most of the sales people there have no jewelry experience or knowledge. If you are experienced in the trade move on, you will do the work someone else will get the commission. Hours are horrible. Dead end job. I wasted years there and was still making same pay. There is also a lot of favoritism. Unless you really need a job my advice to you is do not apply. You will not like it. Very stressful. Lot of turnaround.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop stealing sales. Stop the favoritism, treat people with respect.

    Pros

If you want to get experience and learn industry knowledge about how a jewelry retailer & manufacturing company works, this is a good place to work.

    Cons

    minimal training
not very intellectually challenging pulling/updating reports (more tedious)
not a progressive atmosphere, workers are complacent
    45hr work-weeks or at least 43..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Merchandising Department: hiring based on reactive decision making is a recipe for disaster, putting wrongful blame on someone is not fair

I worked at Na Hoku full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Some very beautiful jewelry and nice clients come in.

    Cons

Manager very aggressive (and can be jealous if you show any signs of taking away her sales) and takes all the best sales for herself. Her main concern is making as much money as possible, and she considers her "team", her office staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more professional and look around at what's really happening before making snap decisions. Be more equitable.
