I have been working at Nalley Automotive (More than a year)

    Pros

I like the people that I work with. I really believe in our product. We have a great management staff and team.

    Cons

Sales positions require a lot of hours. I am from out of state and I rarely get to visit my family and friends back home because of my hours.

    Advice to Management

Management should make the work environment more fun and have more competitions that include monetary prices. They should give us more of a reason to push certain vehicles and products.

  2. I got a good introduction to the car business there and with a SOLID corporation.

I worked at Nalley Automotive (More than a year)

    Pros

Probably the best thing about working with Nalley is that you have the Nalley name behind you, which gives a feeling of job security as well as always having traffic in the dealership.

    Cons

The pay was horrible and I would have never been able to get ahead in a sales role, even with 10-15 car months. It was all I could do to pay some basic bills, while working 60-65 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Nobody enjoys the larger incomes that management does, in fact, enjoy without the work put in by the sales team. Guaranteed hours and opportunity was great, but for compensation not to even include overtime with a required schedule of well over a 40 hour work week, is no good. That along with a flat $40/car commission with no incentive - based tier structure, the incentive to push for financial reward just isn't there.

  3. Terrible place to work

I worked at Nalley Automotive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can make good commission on Used Cars.

    Cons

Worst job experience of my life. The "old school" car dealership is in full effect here. Managers talk to sales consultants like non-humans. The attitude here is "buyers are liars" and this was verbalized. Overheard sexist, racist, and homophobic comments from managers. Company exec who came to manage the dealership when the GM left asked in a meeting if employees read the bible.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and start over - value employees and treat people with respect

    Pros

If you're great with people, pretty personable, and great at sales, you'll do well. Some people are helpful and will show you the ropes and they do provided paid training. You do get an hour lunch break and lunch is provided on Saturdays. You can enroll in benefits easily. Fun culture, low pressure, but you definitely have to be self-motivated.

    Cons

Hours are ridiculously long, no real vacation time and you work hardest on the holidays. You work every Saturday 9am-8pm and every other Sunday 12-5pm. As an employee, you're at the bottom of the totem pole. The main priority is to sell cars, no one cares about your feelings or what you have going on at home. The idea is to not be an advocate for the customer and that is pretty difficult when your also supposed to build a rapport with the customer to establish trust. Very low traffic in general so it can be difficult if you don't have leads.

    Advice to Management

Consider being more respectful to your employees and treating them you want to be treated. Improve schedules.

cap your earning potential as a salesman. It varies dealership to dealership, but they have non traditional way of conducting business

    Advice to Management

pay your salesman more. Pay attention to dealership processes, some of the managers are very narrow minded with how diverse the automotive industry is now, especially with internet sales.
