Current Employee – been working at NameMedia
Pros – Perks - 100% Health Care Coverage, Company Events, Snacks/Beer/Wine.
Compensation is fair, IF you negotiate on the way in.
Cons – No direction.
No hopes of stock options ever being worth it.
The innovators are gone - either by layoffs or smart enough to leave on their own.
Once economy rebounds, the place will empty.
Advice to Senior Management – Talk to the people who DO the work, and don't just constantly tell them what they are doing wrong. If you were so smart, you would be public and wouldn't need to change your strategy every 6 months.

Former Employee – worked at NameMedia
Pros – Some nice, genuine people here. The company is very progressive which is likely typical in this industry. The office is nice, they have many company outings and perks to show they appreciate your hard work. They are flexible in many ways. You will likely learn a lot simply by being surrounded by some very smart people who have spent time in the industry and have some solid knowledge.
Cons – Many people feel overworked and employees may expect to occasionally take work home with them, depending on the dept. There is constant change because they are a young company and maybe in over their heads in some ways, so you you have to be on your toes and expect changing job responsibilities. There is nothing wrong with hard work, but there should be some clearly defined objectives, expectations and training for the work. They also conduct more unnecessary conference calls than the average company. As with any place- there are a few bottom dwellers who will do what they can to keep their job and move up.
Advice to Senior Management – You could save some jobs there if you cut back on the wasteful spending in the company.
