    I worked at NanoInk

    Pros

The employees no longer have to put up with the charade of upper management trying to prove the viability of the product.

    Cons

There are 85 employees "out on the street"/out of a job with only three days notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should have been focused on managing the money we had. Or, finding money to continue to operate. Instead they thought that there was an endless supply of cash, and spent it like it was someone else's money.

Great learning environment with experts from diverse fields, but nepotism and unfair politics rule here.

    I worked at NanoInk

    Pros

The best reason is the highly matrixed environment consisting of cutting edge professionals from diverse disciplines.

    Cons

A couple of members of the executive manangement are technically incompetant (not all), but they were fortunate enough to have followed the CEO from all the companies he previously managed. Pure nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Jim Hussey should promote upper management on the basis of technical and managerial capabilities, not on how long he has known them nor in how many of his other companies that they worked together. Competance should come first. Too bad, because I liked Jim and I think he is a very capable leader if he focuses on his employees skills, capabilities and results.

    Pros

You will never get fired no matter how incompetent you are, which is a great way to retain the worst employees. If you are a yes man who does not mind to see millions of dollars wasted on silly projects, this is the place for you.

    Cons

You will never get fired no matter how incompetent you are, which is a great way to retain the worst employees. If you are a yes man who does not mind to see millions of dollars wasted on silly projects, this is the place for you. Yes it is a repeat of the previous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a team that isnt afraid to tell you that you are wrong. Trust the technical people and stop claiming to be an entrepeneur, you are not.

    Pros

Great location and work-life balance. Immediate boss was a pleasure to work with. Easy access to all the Chicago perks.

    Cons

Lack of leadership and competency skills of upper management. Frequent crashes of software and hardware affecting the company bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to listen to advice and input of employees and treat them with more respect especially if they have more experience.
