    A place for research a non-stressful environment

    Pros- Academic environment means that it is less stressful than the corporate world
    - Work environment depends from department to department and your supervisor
    - Mostly independent work and supervisor does not micro manage
    - Free to conduct research and pursue interest
    - Flexibility in time where hours are not so strict but requires self discipline in management

    Cons- lack of facilities for staff (e.g., gym, etc)
    - complex and legacy systems still in place

    Inadequate equipment to do job competently
    Superiors biased against lifestyle
    Superiors behind time on knowledge and jargon to do with modern technology and software
    Pay bonuses awarded according to length of employment as opposed to performance
    Inconsistent deadlines and unrealistic KPIs

    Advice to Senior ManagementDirectors and Assistant directors need to be up to date on technology and software to allow a more conducive work environment as opposed to superiors demanding the impossible of their associates.

    Deadlines and KPIs need to be taken into account/ relative to the number of employees working in a single department.
