    A lot of potential for personal growth as long as supervisor is supportive.
    Nice environment to work in.

    Paper count is what matters most. No support for research staff to attend conferences.

    - Academic environment means that it is less stressful than the corporate world
    - Work environment depends from department to department and your supervisor
    - Mostly independent work and supervisor does not micro manage
    - Free to conduct research and pursue interest
    - Flexibility in time where hours are not so strict but requires self discipline in management

    - lack of facilities for staff (e.g., gym, etc)
    - complex and legacy systems still in place
