I have been working at NaphCare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Owner/CEO/Upper management very supportive. Excellent benefits. Felt part of a team that promotes excellent, cost-effective care for inmate population

    Cons

Never felt there were any cons that were important. Any problems were dealt with by corporate as needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at NaphCare full-time

    Pros

Some absolutely wonderful coworkers. Very challenging work. Great place to get a job for a couple of weeks of paid orientation while looking for another job.

    Cons

This job will test every bit of nursing empathy you have. Management is more interested in creating new policies, changing policies, and expanding their market that they forget about the foot soldiers doing the work. Their pride and joy, Techcare software is a joke. Causes way more problems than it is ever going to solve. No concern for the inmate/patients that they take care of. Pulling psych patients off all their meds until seen by a provider (a 2-4 week wait). New PRN nurses coming through continously, never to be seen again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Yeah - like they would listen

I have been working at NaphCare full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I have to work and a lot of my co workers do too and there are many friendly ones that have to work.

    Cons

Very miserable environment. Toxic and demeaning is what it feels like but they don't care at all. Everyone is replaceable. They don't even try to pretend to care. I hate it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be human or at least realize others are.

I have been working at NaphCare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great, efficient, and knowledgeable line staff Doctor on staff likes to educate, but expects us to diagnose. Opportunities to deal with a wide variety of the population and illnesses

    Cons

Policies continuously change to suit the "situation". No written policies and procedures manual. No formal training offered. New nurses are expected to use critical thinking skills unless they are wrong, then they get written up. Nurses are expected to perform beyond their scope of practice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognise potential of current staff. Treat us as assests, not liabilities. Use training, not discipline to make us more productive

No weekend differentials, requirement to work every other weekend.

I have been working at NaphCare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people who truly care about quality work and doing things the right way

    Cons

Sr. Management does not appear to care about people at all. They complicate everything possible and act like the employees are disposable. When we try and give our opinion, they yell and scream at us for opening our mouths and having an opinion on our job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat others how you would actually like to be treated.

The past year since Naphcare took over our contract has only been a barrage of disappointment.

I have been working at NaphCare part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Salary per hour stayed good

    Cons

Cut positions without notice, no partial benefits for part timers, no support for employees that stayed, no recourse for employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While healthcare is a business, it's not one that can or should be run like a factory. It's necessary to have experienced people already in place for when needed. They should not be expected to go home without pay because not enough patients were sick this week, or the equipment went down. If you want people to be loyal to your company, they need to be shown some loyalty and respect for their livelihood in return.

I have been working at NaphCare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You don't have to deal with insurance companies. Electronic records.

    Cons

Management makes up for being in another state by micromanaging from afar - requiring vacations to be requested 6 months in advance, asking your supervisor why you're a few minutes over on your timeclock, even though they're not going to pay you for the overtime. Inflexible about letting people cover other people's shifts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be more flexible.
