Pros
Collegiate, team-based, friendly culture, professional development, career opportunities, good remuneration and benefits, company has a genuine interest in corporate responsibility
Cons
Lack of a performance culture, bloated head office, poor performance management, remuneration not as good as other financial services companies

Address the issue of a lack of performance culture. Continue with the identified strategic imperatives around game plan. Refresh the executive leadership.

If you want to find out the real Engagement score. Have two separate scores. (1) for Whole of bank/Top Management and (2) for Own team/division. That way YOU will know what the staff are feeling about the bank/company
Pros
NAB is making strong, positive strides to improving its internal culture to promote positive attitudes towards teamwork, work-life balance and community contribution. It has a strong structure in place for career development of permanent employees.
Cons
In such a large organization, it can be challenging to locate people resources. Also correlated with this factor is a silo mentality whereby service providers are slow to consider the impact of changes they make on their service consumers.
As a consultant, I was not included in team-building activities, or included in team training courses for the project at hand. Also, I was disappointed to not be included in formal review and feedback mechanisms.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work. Recognise that the ROI equation for consultants needs to include training (where appropriate) and inclusion in team-building activities.

NAB's culture wasn't nearly as sick as reported after the forex scandal. To some extent they through the baby out with the bathwater. The strength of that bank was the longstanding bank managers in the branches and BBCs. New management went around telling them their culture needed changing because some cowboys on the trading desk lost some money. Not great for staff morale.

* Complex systems, a nightmare for newbies
* Segregation of duties is often a barrier of things getting done.
* Senior management need to bring IT inline to the same platforms moving forward.

Look long term and lead IT into a single platform.
