    Pros

Great rapport with other staff members. Like a family. If you can stick it out for many years, you might be able to make an average salary.

    Cons

Antiquated IT systems. No investment into marketing. Rely too heavily on teller referrals and outbound calls to existing clients.

    Advice to Management

Update the IT systems. Invest into a web presence to attract loan prospects since that market is largely shifting to shopping online.

    Pros

There is nothing positive to say about NBAZ.

    Cons

The people being promoted couldn't hack it anywhere else, yet they're treated like gods at NBAZ. The marketing department is completely detached from the true needs of the bank. The benefits are absolutely atrocious (I had a medical emergency before my benefits kicked in and was able to qualify for great financial assistance from the hospital. When my benefits did kick in, I had surgery and paid $10,000 out of pocket and still didn't hit my maximum. Total joke.) Salary is not at all competitive and HR isn't prepared to negotiate. Overall, the company is run by toxic individuals who love drama and are completely closed off from what their competitors are doing. The other reviewer that mentioned the whole "voted #1 bank in AZ" thing is dead on—they're obsessed with being voted the #1 bank by Ranking Arizona yet have absolutely no idea what actually being a top-ranked bank would entail.

    Advice to Management

The company is too far gone to help.

    Pros

The day they terminated my employment and set me FREE!
The best thing about my NBA experience was....LEAVING!

    Cons

Too Many to count! Every year Arizona Business Magazine rates various companies. The magazine has a very poor and limited circulation. Come around time for the voting at the Magazine for "Best Bank" NBA attaches to their email a link to vote and the best part...there is no limit on how often you can vote! They stuff the ballot box, then brag every year that they were voted best bank in Arizona! HaHa! Any praise you see by NBA on any website is from management, DON'T BE FOOLED!!!

    Advice to Management

When you see that they are going to sell....sharpen up your resume because there is no Bank any of you would survive at! You have ZERO customer service skills and ZERO employee management skills!

    Pros

The biggest pro about this company is that they're closed weekends. Though there's been plenty of talk about that changing.

    Cons

It's every man for himself. I worked here a year and after about 6 months I knew this place was a joke. I've worked in close to a dozen branches and in only 3 have I found management to be any help. The rest push you around and leave you the dirty work. They talk down to their employees as do a handful of bankers. The pay is below average and the software is beyond outdated. Unless you're in management or work at an executive level, it's really hard to gain any sort of respect. All in all I felt inferior to this company. There is little to no room for advancement. Most companies allow internals to apply first before they make a job posting public. Not NBAZ. Everything is out to the public right away and they often end up hiring externally without giving an internal applicant a phone call. Avoid working for this company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and take action. Just taking the time to hear their thoughts and leaving the problem as it is only makes matters worse. Turnover would probably decline a great amount if they did.

    Pros

No Saturdays and thats about it. This place doesn't have much going for it. They expect loans and credit cards to come out of thin air, too late for that! This isn't 2000.

    Cons

Horrible benefits, stone age computer programs, no driving for new business or incentives for new accounts. They are trying to be like chase and wells Fargo but are losing big time. The ATMs are terrible. There is no room to move up, the corporate jobs are a joke.

    Advice to Management

Pony up some money and update the computers
Pony up more money and give better benefits
Stop with the BS campaigns that nobody cares about
Fire yourselves for failing the stress test and get someone that knows how to do the job

    Pros

Many of the employees are striving for the best for both customers and the bank.

    Cons

Inadequate pay and recognition for those who do put in long hours and dedication. Leadership does not set a good example and company values are for marketing but not reality.

    Advice to Management

Reduce HR and Marketing so you can start making a decent ROA and ROE. Pay competively. Get rid of unproductive and uncreative middle management. Be real and not marketing BS that you can't back up.
