I have been working at National Grid full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Plenty of over time.
    Approachable management.
    Easygoing dress code.
    Centrally located.
    Plethora of personalities.
    Benefits.

    Cons

As with any call center the customers can easily ruin your day.
Training is ok. But you learn the brunt of your intel on the floor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train better. A new hire shouldn't finish training and still feel lost.

I have been working at National Grid full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits, people, nice atmosphere, interesting work

    Cons

Management that should be fired as they can't do their roles are rotated into other roles where they are equally incompetent- if someone can't do a role - demote - do not promote or put in an "acting" role-

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If senior management aren't cutting it let them go- the reason there are so many big 4 consultants is because management can't do their jobs

I have been working at National Grid full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    The work hours are good

    Cons

No One has a clue what they are doing. It's no wonder why the company is 4 billion in the hole. There is absolutely no direction from anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue. Hire experienced people to run departments.

I worked at National Grid as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Great People who are all willing to take time to teach you and answer any questions you have. Good and flexible hours. Get to have outside on the field experience as well as in the office. The pay for an intern is pretty good.

    Cons

My department was secluded from the rest, so it felt kind of stranded and left out. Employee appreciation is low

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more ice breaker events, actual activities. Do a program to switch the interns through departments so they can get a taste of each.

I worked at National Grid full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Benefits are great, work load is manageable, some of the people you work with "get it" and make things entertaining.

    Cons

When you work at a facility that was previously purchased by the Grid, it tends to be downsized. Not much organization and compared to other facilities the Whites Path location is seemingly not on corprate HQ's radar. Not all department heads "get it" and tend to cause more problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update your policies and no when to hold onto valuable people instead of returning favors to people who are long over due for retirement.
