Pros
- Less process
- Freedom to new ideas
Cons
- Very restrictive in the name of "NI Way"
- No forward thinking
- Chaotic way of working and no planning
Advice to Senior Management
- Be open to new people
- Have attitude to listen
- Don't think you know the world
Pros
Exposed to the latest technology of varieties of field, communicate with engineers and scientist in the front lines, and many chances enhancing your business capability.
Cons
Opportunities that your promotion are limited unless job posts become vacant, infrastructure for supporting our clients is poor especially in remote office since some materials are not localized well.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest a little more to the localization of the support material, for future support and self-learning for the employees in remote offices.
Pros
-mostly work with intelligent, competent people
-open-ended projects that allow exploration and learning
-job stability
-friendly culture
-employee dedication and generally positive morale
-excellent benefits
-good work life balance
-small company (branch) environment with large company benefits and stock plans
-easy 9-5 job
Cons
-lower than average pay
-no room for career advancement
-no official telecommuting policy
-slow, conservative decision making processes
-poor middle management made up by talented employees
-cult-like behaviour with the "NI Way" leading to a lack of objectiveness about NI products especially in choosing the best resources or tools for projects
-promotion almost exclusively internally, even when internal candidates are unsuitable
-no official training. Google is where you train yourself in this company.
-no incentive for performance as annual bonus is the same across the board and raises are at inflation
-slow to move to new technologies
-open cubicles, leading to constant distraction and zero privacy
-international company that has yet to figure out how to manage and coordinate international branches properly
-less than average vacation days to start (2 weeks)
Advice to Senior Management
Re-evaluate your salary for higher retention. Introduce an official telecommute policy as this is the norm for this industry especially software.
Pros
You would want to work for this company because of the friendliness of the people, great work life balance, and opportunities for movement within the company.
Cons
As an intern working outside of engineering, the pay is not as high as it could be. The overall experience would be better if you felt you were properly compensated.
Advice to Senior Management
I felt that the overall management was fine. As an intern you do not have the visibility that you would as a full time employee so it is hard to give a detailed and well informed answer.
Pros
Smart co-workers and technologically advanced products make a great combination for engineers to engage and learn. The company supports personal initiatives and encourages people's many interests, both work- and hobby-related.
Cons
Pay is OK. Many times one can find oneself working on products that are slight variations of existing products, which means that it's a bit of a repeat work.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider better compensation for employees and aim for a more steady rate of growth, such that a good standard paygrade can be maintained.
Pros
Good benefits. The company does care about its employees.
Cons
Not enough communication between departments
Pros
Because they threat you well, and guve you the chance to make anything in order to progress with your professional career
Cons
We dont have enough equipement to work with, we would really use some. in rest i dont have anything bad to say
Advice to Senior Management
Give us more equipement so we dont have to ask our coleguess to borrov a smu or aomethibg
Pros
- Very good start for your career. You get alot of responsibilities quickly
- Possibility to gain worldwide experience
- Technically challenging
Cons
- Pay doesn't increase that much which is disappointing compared to other companies
Pros
The management is great. The after work activites are fun. Laid back atmosphere. Good balance between work and fun. Location is great.
Cons
I've heard pay is lower, but I think it's made up for by the location, cost of living, and benefits.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you've been doing, it seems like it's been working. Keep up the benefits and events for employees.
Pros
Superb work atmosphere that applies to the attitude of co-workers throughout the company, communication between employees, and the level of interest and importance of the projects employees work on. I always felt like a valued part of a team, and a valued part of the company.
Cons
Their corporate email application is a little slow and sometimes difficult to work with. It's really a very small gripe that is easily overcome.
Advice to Senior Management
As you probably already know, NI Week is just as much as a rev-up for NI employees as it is for customers. You do a great job already, but don't loose sight of how important that week is for employees as well for the health and demeanor of the company.
