Pros
National Penn Bank truly cares about its clients and its employees. Through these economic hardships there has never been a mass layoff. There is stability in the company as long as you are working hard. Department managers range in flexibility and morale, however I'm personally satified with mine.
Cons
There are more federal regulations, which cause more red tape in accomplishing tasks on the front-lines. Also, the company's culture is also changing as it has greatly expanded in the past 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
I think senior management has done a great job in leading NPB out of the economic hardships we faced in the prior year. I believe an analysis of salaries should be assessed on the management side of the community offices, as was with the teller side 3 years ago. There are thin margins between the Head Tellers, Assistant Managers and COMs. This is causing talent to walk out the door to its competitors at times. Also, visibility of top senior management would go a long way in further bolstering morale in the company.
Pros
Interesting and challenging work. Lots of quality folks
Cons
Unless you were in the inter circle, little chance for advancement. Lots of favoritism
Advice to Senior Management
Identify quality folks and reward them for job well done
Pros
Growth opportunities available if you are willing to stick it out and wait your turn.
Cons
Pay and benefits package leave much to be desired although it is one of the most competitive in the area.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay employees what they deserve and assure the funds that are being paid out are allocated to the employees who deserve it.
Pros
Nice hometown atmosphere. Most of the people are pleasant. Bennies seem to be decent, esp. free bank accounts, etc.
Cons
Lots of people here who have been here their whole lives--creates inbreeding. Many mundane and petty personalities. Some of the senior managers, excuse me, senior vice presidents (everyone's a vice president here!), are downright poisonous, cruel and toxic.
Advice to Senior Management
Get with contemporary times and the real world! Pay attention to those senior managers' whose people are browbeat day in and day out and get rid of them (the senior managers, not the abused employees). Do you really think it's smart business to keep these petty women who have been with the company their whole lives, 28-35 years, just because of their longevity? Take a hard look at what kind of managers they really are and how awful their employees are feeling!
Pros
pay was ok and benefits good
Cons
trying to get an advancement in career is hard
Advice to Senior Management
none
