Pros
Warm, caring environment- real attempts at enhancing employee communication
Cons
Senior management could never get a winning strategy in place
Pros
Location, People, Facilities, Pay, Quality of life
Cons
Strategy seems to be a question mark. Maybe TI acq will change this
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
they company is systematic and good for newbies to learn
Cons
there is not creative and not new products
Advice to Senior Management
should retire
Pros
Established and refined processes = excellent learning base
CFO very personable, proactive and involved
Onsite cafeteria with decent food
Great onsite gym and running track
Job rotation program after 18-36 months in a position
Cons
Declining revenues resulted in multiple layoff rounds = poor morale
Job rotation was based more on who you know, not necessarily what you know
Advice to Senior Management
Better attention to market trends to grow revenues and market share
Improve innovation beyond IC packaging
Grow internal talent based on merit to build a stronger knowledge pool
Pros
They purchase the right equipment, tailor environments to work around the engineer's tasks, and overall make you feel like a part of a large work family.
National's employee compensation is fair.
National's overall view is employee and customer first.
Cons
National has too little focus int he industries of technology which drive everyday lives.
National spends more time reorganizing than they do developing or sticking with an idea.
Poor senior management over a decade has carved a hard rut to fill/fix for current management.
Advice to Senior Management
I think the current shift in business is an exciting one. I've never been happier at a company but at the same time, I've never worried more about when our positions would vanish. National has a wonderful vision, a wonderful attitude towards employees, and overall is amazing company to work for. I wish there was more communication within the company but am still very satisfied with my choice to work for National Semiconductor.
Pros
This is a family oriented place. If you are okay with a slow pacing company steady hours, National is perfect.
Cons
Very traditional semiconductor company. If you are looking for a fast pace company where you will be rewarded for doing a stellar job, then you may not find it here.
Pros
Stable industry with good growth projections, good work life balance, good campus and facilities in Santa Clara, fair compensation, good benefits
Cons
Very poorly managed; sense of entitlement is evident amongst upper management; favortism games are common and built into culture which reinforces management feeling of entitlement; very poor corporate growth, negative in real terms, revenue essentially flat for last 30yrs
Advice to Senior Management
Clear out large majority of management, strengthen salesforce worldwide, review growth objectives and targets, invest in new technology development areas
Pros
It could Kick-start a fresh grad career
Cons
Heavy workload which makes our reward somehow underpaid
Advice to Senior Management
Extra incentive and often pay rise please as workload is way above the limit
Pros
Family friendly work environment. Not as high stress as Silicon Valley startup. Good food at Cafe on campus for lunch.
Cons
Company shut down for 2 weeks between Christmas & New Year. Sometimes Thanksgiving shut down too. Have to use vacation for these.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to grow the company, to make it more competitive. To improve productivity. Increase Share holder value over long time.
Pros
The people, great engineering, & manufacturing.
Cons
Zero sales growth over many years.
