Pros
I love that Nationwide has values it can stand on!
Cons
They don't offer student loan repayment
Advice to Senior Management
Senior VPs and up are great!
Pros
They care about your work life balance more than some other companies, time off was easy to obtain and salary was average to good.
Cons
political, poor bonus, some management unqualified for their roles.
Pros
Decent pay
Good people
History of community involvement
Cons
Promotions only for the "clique"
Once a G band, nowhere to move
Too political
No support for learning, getting designations
Senior level is FUMU: Eff up, move up
Short sighted in decision-making
Bad hires, especially at vp levels
Make managers without right competencies
Managers with bad employee engagement scores are kept around
Recycling strategies that didn't work in past
Raises are just okay
HR recruiters unprofessional
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of leaders who can't lead/have consistently bad engagement results
Get rid of clique culture in identifying talent
Stop pigeon-holing people into careers
Better growtg strategy
Pros
No accountabilty which results in no pressure to work hard.
Cons
Company's customer base eroding for 5th year in a row, no end in sight. No opportunity for advancement especially Hispanic.
Advice to Senior Management
CEO & President been in charge for 5 years and the ship hasn't changed course. Need to have new leadership.
Pros
A company that recognizes and rewards people willing to go above and beyond. They are willing to promote from within and supply ongoing training to make it possible. Feedback is accepted and encouraged, as are new ides.
Cons
I have come across some managers who hand opportunities to friends of other managers. It's not done on a broad scale, but it does happen.
Advice to Senior Management
I would ask that you do more than frown upon favors being given and passing over more deserving employees who worked hard to be considered. It's a detriment to moral.
Pros
Good work life balance in IT. Flex time is good.
Cons
Lack of direction or clear direction from upper IT management.
Advice to Senior Management
Skip levels to help deter the middle management interpretation.
Pros
Co workers are a team and there are great opportunities to get noticed during catastophe operations. The technology used there is better than 90% of competitors.
Cons
There is no compensation for the level of work and complexity of claims that the position is responsible for. Management is slow to decide due to uncertainty of processes and causes stress in the clams process.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow more autonomy to the employee or a process in place that the employee can follow. Reward the employee for performance. The best and worst employee make the same pay raise.
Pros
Rich history, large company with a lot of opportunities. Treats its employees well, and is in a lucrative industry
Cons
The way they hire people is kind of weird. Jobs won't be held college graduates they know they want.
Pros
I had good benefits, decent pay, respect from immediate manager and coworkers in an open environment with respect to communication at an office that is now closed.
Cons
It's a shame they decided to close this office. There were committed, long-term employes who did their jobs extremely well.
Advice to Senior Management
Think it over longer before you decide to close any more offices. There are still some experienced insurance professionals without work.
Pros
Benefit package is very competitive.
Cons
Limitations on career growth and development.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire better talent.
