I have been working at Nationwide Vision Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The doctors are always great to work with, teching and doing the doctors pretesting makes the job feel important.

    Cons

Management is poor, managers and people above in corporate couldn't care less for their employees. Working here is almost like being back in high school and it's crazy how bad the customer service.

    Advice to Management

    Care about your employees

I worked at Nationwide Vision Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked there for 5 years. Was a decent place to work. Unfortunately management changed. The doctor was awesome extremely good with patients.

    Cons

Unfortunately management changed and people that were unqualified to run an office were put in charge. If you were not in your 20's and not willing to bow down then you were fired. There were personal vendettas against certain employees and anyone that had more experience were perceived as a threat. Filing grievances or complaints was a waste of time especially if you were female.

    Advice to Management

Get someone that knows how to run an office. Someone who is competent. When you put someone in charge that is a liar and has made thier way up management by kissing butt and steeling employees ideas don't ask why the office has failed. Eventually everything has a way of catching up with you.

I worked at Nationwide Vision Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The operating hours were good and stores were not open on Sundays. The over all work environment was mainly due to the office manager, so if you had a "working" manager with a good attitude it was quite pleasant.

    Cons

If you worked in a prime location and the doctor was good you could make decent money, if not, the pay was not up to standard.

    Advice to Management

Management needed to be more consistant, with all the rules and regulations applying to all the people all the time.

I have been working at Nationwide Vision Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some great employees! New ownership means change! A shakedown would be good for all ranks. It might keep senior staff on their toes and re-evaluate the existing culture.

    Cons

The great employees are not always recognized. Then there are some...not so great at all but who know those in power.

    Advice to Management

Management through intimidation rarely has a positive outcome.

    Pros

You can grow in this company, and learn a lot.

    Cons

Hourly wage is not good. The rules change too much. Too much miscommunication. Every store is run differently.

    Advice to Management

Nationwide is a large family. Your managers should know and also care about their children - so to speak, we spend 8 hours a day or more serving you. You should know what makes each individual thrive, like you would your own children. You should know how to teach them in their learning style. It is NOT a one size fits all. But anyone can do this job with the right teaching. The stores can all be run the same, that is needed. They all need to be on the same page.

    Pros

Managment was always willing train employees in all areas of the field.

    Cons

Once trained in all areas, you were constantly being moved around to other branches to work.

    Advice to Management

Promote and give raises to people that deserve it. This will make for happier employees.
