    Cons

There is no con to a mission such as this!

I have been working at Naval Academy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For a military assignment, this is about as close to civilian life as you can get...which may be why I am transitioning to civilian life after this. Taking the position wasn't a "career enhancing" move, but I've seen enough people with "enhanced careers" whose overall lives/family situations I am glad to not have.

    Cons

No cons I can think of really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a vast difference between the academic military instructor side of the house & other military positions on the yard. The instructors are, for the most part, very disengaged from onerous duties/responsibilities, whereas many non-instructor positions on the yard can be very draining and demanding.

I worked at Naval Academy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Like many places in the world and the US Navy, there are some of the best people in the world here, from faculty to staff to midshipmen. Also, compared to other undergraduate institutions, the faculty really care about teaching and developing their students, which is refreshing.

    Cons

The administration certainly has its own unique breed of disfunctionality when it comes to administrative requirements and budgeting. Part of this is not its fault, but trickles down from Capitol Hill. Some midshipmen are also very lazy and don't deserve their appointments, and of course athletics trumps everything, but then that is true at most universities.

    Pros

Outstanding opportunities to help shape the future leadership of the US Navy and Marine Corps. Great duty station if you're an Officer.

    Cons

Shares all of the dysfunctional, bureaucratic garbage associated with government employment mixed with all of the petty backstabbing of an academic environment.

I have been working at Naval Academy full-time

    Pros

The folks here atNHCA are fantastic to work with. The CO, XO and DFA are inspiring leaders and just basically decent human beings. My immediate supervisor is also a good guy, and has offered to drive out on the highway to change a tire for employees who had a flat.
Salary is very good as well.

    Cons

Early hours (I live an hour away), but it goes with the territory (military). The facility is aginf, but a new one is on the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep it up!
