You'll be fine, if you're a favorite!

I have been working at Navarre full-time for more than 3 years

ProsFlexible schedule, okay pay but large work load!

ConsThe current president (Ward Thomas) is indirect and has no balls! His team of favorites follow his every move and promote their favorites. They are also indirect and spend more time trying to look good than do a good job or produce a well running company.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet off your high horse and learn a system or two, then you can suggest changes!

energy sucking and disrespectful

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Navarre full-time

ProsCan't think of one good thing

Consno leadership-interim CEO, and upper management is distrustful. HR took vacation time away from employees, while management gets unlimited vacation time. Employees are fearful, and treated like sheep. No work/life balance. Employees are not utilized to their fullest potential nor appreciated. Communication is non-existent.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees are people, not just pawns for the shareholders (who might also be employees).

It was good long ago, but went downhill in a big way.

Senior Buyer (Former Employee)
New Hope, MN

I worked at Navarre

ProsIn the early days, it was a family atmosphere. Pay was good for the work. Made some good friends while working there. The work was challenging, even during the lean years.

ConsSiloed organization with a rumor mill that is as damaging as the current culture. The organization runs lean and mean, which can be good and bad, but when communication is as bad as it is now, it is tough to understand priorities. There is little or no advancement potential. Hiring practices in recent years seemed to favor hiring to create a culture, not to bring in the best possible person to do the job. Most people walk on eggshells and are legitimately concerned about their futures.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication must improve. Remove the rumor mill that alienates staff. Wholesale changes must take place to improve the company culture - it just isn't a fun place to work and considering the business Navarre is in, that is sad. It should be fun.

One lean machine

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Navarre

ProsLean staff means having lots of hats to wear, and lots of varied responsibility, and rare (if any) boring days.

ConsSmall organization, so not a lot of room for advancement. Staff is so lean, that it is difficult to take time away, even though the management is supportive of time off.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage a positive work environment. Be creative about recognizing/rewarding hard work. Encourage departments and people to solve problems together, and not in a vacuum.
