I have been working at Navigant Consulting

    Pros

    - Strong presence within major cities across the country
    - Professionalism of employees
    - Strong backgrounds of co-workers and very intelligent consultants
    - Culture promotes working with colleagues

    Cons

    - Development opportunities outside of the firm
    - Small project teams limit the help necessary on some projects
    - Management can be reluctant to give lower levels praise but provides blame when projects are team effort

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase competitiveness in salary/bonus and increase promotions to retain top talent within the firm. Outside hiring is not always necessary if you progress individuals properly.

    I worked at Navigant Consulting

    Pros

Navigant was a great place to work in terms of environment. The people were a joy to work with and management was very flexible and progressive.

    Cons

The directors and managing directors were awesome, but with standardization across the company and corporate trying to assimilate new acquisitions, there were some feathers ruffled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the small, private consulting firm entrepreneurial feel and don't get bogged down in the bureaucracy of the largeness of the firm.

    I worked at Navigant Consulting

    Pros

provides a great learning experience, there's a really friendly culture, the office is really nice, the business development budget is huge, lots of happy hours after work which kept morale high

    Cons

The type of work you had to do was sometimes almost insulting (you felt like a monkey could do it). Great assignments only came along every now and then. This was likely due to the crummy economic times, however

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The whole company would be better off if the management was more discerning in hiring decisions.

    Pros

Company allows you to seek out opportunities you are interested in. Lots of smart people working on interesting and relevant problems.
