    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The top heavy Italian management needs to recognize the talents and abilities of it's employees.

I have been working at Navionics

    Pros

Family issues are understood and time is given to solve them. Some of the recruiting decisions have been good so the teams can be very fun.

    Cons

The top management is very autocratic, all decisions are being made by one man despite his lack of IT knowledge. Unpopular but correct ideas are frowned upon, too many comments will get you fired. Company is run like a factory, not like an IT company. Project planning is abysmal, product owners have no right to their own opinions and are not allowed to run their own projects. Many of the employees are technically not as strong as they should be.

The company is swiftly getting run over by the innovation from other comparable companies and deservedly so.

'Results' are demanded but never defined, overtime is constantly expected and never rewarded, pays are low for most people, jobs are not secure, the technology stack is painfully outdated and badly managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust and listen to your people, run the company like an IT company.

    I worked at Navionics

    Pros

My coworkers were great but the overseas office turned what could be an interesting place to work for into a toxic environment.

    Cons

I have to say the negative comments here are accurate based on my experience. It's the worst company I've ever worked for.

They are unprofessional and they don't have any systematic process. Very high stress brought about by total disorganization. Strategy, mission, objectives are missing at this company as management lack basic qualifications. The CEO has kept all the layers of bureaucracy but completely undermines all the teams who do the work.

Any attempt at improving the product is immediately axed by management to the point where it is uncertain whether the company actually has the technical capability of producing the product that they advertise.

Be prepared to train yourself with little help on antiquated systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They have the wrong people doing the wrong jobs. This includes management. They do not take advantage of an individuals strengths and are very good at pointing out weakness's.

    Pros

The less hard you work, the more they like you. No new/good ideas needed, just be a monkey. If you do nothing slowly and shimmy out of work, you can stay here forever - just keep your mouth shut and never oppose "management" (or what passes for it) from Italy. There is no real US management - all decisions including how many pencils to buy and when are made in Italy.

    Cons

If you work here, all your American work habits will vaporize and you'll slide down to Italian level, then when you want to go elsewhere, you'll be way behind everyone else. Great place if you want to do nothing, follow simple rules, have no ideas and do precisely what you are told no matter how idiotic. US workers of any worth are always fired sooner or later. Not too smart? You'll be here forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's too late for you. Garmin and others own the market now.
