    Pros

I have a lot of great co-workers, and shifts go by quickly with them. The store is very clean and updated. It's a safe working environment, and close to my house.

    Cons

I was hired as seasonal with a less-than-concrete implication of being hired as part-time after the holiday season. I got stuck in a flex position. Now I average 16 hours a week at $8 an hour - not good. There is really no room to move up or get more pay. It's a balancing act of knowing who to trust. Some people (even supervisors and managers) try to find dirt on people - they're very nosy and way too interested in our personal lives. Leadership doesn't always have your back with difficult customers.

    Advice to Management

Stand firm and support knowledgable associates when difficult customers challenge them. Listen to employee suggestions, and actually take them seriously. Leave flex work for the strictly seasonal employees and bump the rest of us in hours. A raise wouldn't hurt either.

    Pros

If you are from the Phillipines, this will be a great place for you to work.

    Cons

A lot of busy work when there is obviously nothing to do. Going to a different department to help out is not allowed., watched like a hawk for no reason, a lot of favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees. Stop micromanaging and concentrate on building morale and training your existing manpower. Retention of employees is impossible and the turnover for employees who are not of a Filipino background is high. Ask yourselves why.

    Pros

Aside from the opportunity to continually meet new people, the Navy Exchange is very good about working with your school schedule, test days, and finals. The store I work at is almost like a family.

    Cons

Not enough hours, but to be fair my school schedule is also pretty hectic.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

Not many, unfortunately. It was simply not a great environment, given the people I had to work with.

There is no chance of upward movement, very little change in opportunities and responsibility during employment.
