I have been working at Neenah Paper full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is open with employees about the future of the business and what they are doing to continue being successful. The company is also inclusive when it comes to involving employees in how to achieve company goals. The compensation package is pretty good. The company is VERY concerned with operating a safe mill.

    Cons

Training could be improved at the mill level. Employees spend a lot of time at work, so employee time off should be considered more valuable. (When a worker is scheduled to get a weekend off only once every six weeks, every effort should be made to allow that worker the time off and not take the time away because they are needed at the mill.)

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you're doing. Instead of using money as incentives, the company could consider offering paid time off to reward employees for achieving goals.

I worked at Neenah Paper full-time

    Pros

Good pay, excellent benefits, lots of opportunity for overtime

    Cons

You can't trust anyone, lots of "clicks", shady politics going on in the salaried positions, VERY poor training, people are fired with no explanation, it is a difficult place for women to work because of certain men

    Advice to Management

Don't believe everything you hear about new hires at union meetings - they aren't there to defend themselves... FIX your training program! It is TERRIBLE! Some people are "training" others that aren't even fully trained themselves! There is no structure or set plans in training. It is pitiful.

I have been working at Neenah Paper full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong Financial performance, great vision, open communication of desired strategy, invests in employees, great benefits

    Cons

Corporate HQ is in Alpharetta GA, so limited visibility to leadership team, tend to load up the high performers with heavy workload, tend to look for outside talent in GA vs. promote from Fox Valley area

    Advice to Management

Could utilize spot reward program for peak performers more often, clips coming out of the sales meeting were great, potential to add a monthly video clip to the intranet

    Pros

Good pay......yeah that's about it. I can't really think of anything else. Pretty sad. Besides that you have to work your butt off to get that money.

    Cons

They make you fell like you are disposable. They really dont care about the people that work there or the families that they have.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like you are glad that they come to work everyday and do WHATEVER it takes to make sure that you are making money. The people at the Neenah paper mill in Ripon,Ca worked their butts off jumping through hoops for you and still got the short end of the stick.

I have been working at Neenah Paper full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, great products. Company is very profitable. Competitive compensation but don't expect to get wealthy.

    Cons

Declining industry with little growth prospects. Very few "young" people. Top management comes from a commodity background and doesn't understand the product segment

    Advice to Management

Very few people in the company have had pay increases in years yet top management is raking in big money and bonuses. It sends a horrible message that is not lost on the staff level employee.

    Pros

The marketing materials are 'best in class' in the paper industry; both in quality and the frequency in release.

    Cons

    - A higher value should be placed on loyalty to company and those employees inherited in acquisition. - An extremely high amount of administrative responsibilities--'sales prevention'

    Advice to Management

    - A higher value should be placed on loyalty to company and those employees inherited in acquisition. -More upper management in the field for customer visits.
