Pros
The generous employee discount on current inventory, beautiful working environment, and customers are very pleasant.
Cons
Work-life balance can be a challenge. A lot of weekends, nights, and of course holidays. But thats expected in retail.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to strive to treat employees fairly and settle disputes that may arise in a timely manner. I often feel tension on the sales floor between associates and most of the time clients pick up on the hostility because associates argue in front of them. It doesn't look professional and it devalues the experience for the clients. Would you want to shop in a war zone? As a consumer, I rather just shop online if thats the case.
Pros
The discount is generous. If you like fashion then this is the place for you. However job satisfaction really depends on which location you are working.
Cons
Store and executive management doesn't seem to work togethr. This creates a "clumsy" store atmosphere and is not always great to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention and get out on the floor more often. Lead by example intsead of sitting in the back rooms all day.
Pros
fun, fashion, discounts, growth, learning and development
Cons
low salary, only buyers being able to travel
Pros
Discount, coworkers, clothes, flexible schedule
Cons
Aggressive sales associate, forced to compete against each other
Pros
FASHION~ if you love the new new new of the world....there is no better place to be.
Cons
Treatment of employees. Cut throat for sales.
Advice to Senior Management
BE on the same page!
Pros
The positive side to working for Neiman Marcus was the exposure to the fashion world. Salvage and sample sales are the best as you get designer name brands for very low prices.
Cons
No work life balance. Very little recognition for extra effort. Atmosphere was extremely stuck up and there was very little room for growth and development. Buyers took long lunch breaks and upper management did not have any respect for lower level coordinators or assistant buyers.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to respect the lower people doing majority of the work to keep the office together. Treat everyone with respect no matter what their title or position is. Teach the buyers how to manage their offices and hire people who will be team players.
Pros
I was able to work from home, which sounds good, but you're so easily overlooked and almost don't exist unless a customer says you were disrespectful or mean to them.
Cons
Worst management, they do not care about you as a person or as an employee, they go weeks without ever speaking to you unless you somehow make a mistake then you'll definitely hear about that immediatey, customer treat you like complete dirt and yell and cuss and say terrible things, and scheduling gives you the absolute worst hours, even if you're in school.
Advice to Senior Management
You should try caring about your employees as much as your customers, and treating them with respect.
Pros
Great discount and nothing else.
Cons
no growth, feed back or respect
Advice to Senior Management
let your employees grow and work for you in a positive environment that focus on team work, partnership and protecting each other.
Pros
Great interaction with people, both coworkers and customers
Cons
Recognition should be broader and more democratic.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay better attention to efforts that are being eclipsed by negative overviews.
Pros
Good pay, nice bonuses, relatively realistic quotas, very nice management, abrasive but competent upper management
Cons
Too many odd jobs
too long to get promoted
Cater to establish employees
Some people will 'steal' sales
Advice to Senior Management
Treat everyone equally and promote from within a branch. If you transfer a new employee in to be a manager, it will foment insurrection, and noone likes unions.
