-Strict hours/no flex time, management watches the clock

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on employees, they are the ones who are going to make or break you in the end

    Pros

Making the move to Neptune is the best decision I could have made for my career. GREAT group of people who are willing to help and support new employees. Stable company. Good benefit package. Lots of employee events throughout the year.

    Cons

Neptune is located in a smaller town, but it is easily accessible and has less traffic, which is a plus.

  3.

Stable company in a nearly barren small town with below average pay.

Current Employee - Software Design Engineer in Tallassee, AL

    Pros

    Stable Company.
    Younger Coworkers are good people.
Good job security. They don't like firing people.
They're technology stack is improving due to new people in the company pushing for better tools.

    Cons

    Lack of upward mobility
Micro managing Software Development Directory who makes bad technology decisions.
    Below average salary
    Treats Engineers like factory workers.
Tallassee, AL is a hole of a town.
Attrition in Software is high due to management. Many people would leave if there were more opportunities in the area.
As with most larger companies they have NO idea how to schedule projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat Engineers like professionals. Listen to them when they make suggestions. Open an engineering building in a better town. Auburn is very close and you will attract MUCH better talent.

Good place to work if you can get in with a satisfactory salary.

    Pros

Very close knit family feel the the company. Good and friendly atmosphere. Exec's are not above speaking to everyone even at the lowest levels. They had an excellent benefits package with a good 401k matching and great health and dental insurance. Location is great because it's not in a large metropolitan area so traffic is minimal and it's close to the Interstate. Overall it was a very pleasant place to work.

    Cons

At least where I was there was little opportunity to advance without someone above leaving the company or retiring. Felt like I wasn't getting paid enough for my responsibilities and what I brought to the table.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay more for your talent.

    Pros

The people are amazing to work with. Very friendly people.

    Cons

Upper Management's personal relationships cloud their judgement. People are favored and in turn it's very hard to get a promotion based solely on your qualifications. If you're not liked you will not get a promotion. There are never internal postings. If you want another job within Neptune you would need to go to workoplis. So if you're not part of the clique there is no chance to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give internal people a fair shot in moving up from within. It will motivate the people who want to succeed and improve company morale.

Former Employee - Project Administrator  in  Mississauga, ON (Canada)
Former Employee - Project Administrator in Mississauga, ON (Canada)

    Pros

    Vacation Time is ok
A few good people still working there.

    Cons

It is important to differentiate Neptune from Tallassee and the one in Mississauga. Neptune in Mississauga is one of the cheapest companies I've ever worked for. They can treat you as an slave without giving you respect. It is an awful company where almost all managers have outdated knowledge starting with IT. Micromanagement without proper knowledge of information technology, as a result they have: a messed up system. They are disorganized and not nearly smart as they think they are.
If you decide to go to HR, HR goes to the management directly, so you dont have any confidentiality with that department.
Mississauga Neptune Technology is a horrible company, full of gossip definitely not a good place to work.
    Poor opportunities for personal development
    Repetitive Work
Not focus on compensation. Minimal raises
Lack of recognition. Employees are treated badly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your best employees who perform better and beyond expectations and get rid of the ones that are negative. Management at Neptune in Mississauga acts just because "the like". If they"like" them they keep them.

Neptune Technology is not a place to work if you have an option. It is run very unprofessionally!

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Mississauga, ON (Canada)

    Pros

Not many pros as it's usually a job you take when you can't take other jobs at the moment.
    Informal work environment.

    Cons

Divide between front level and management.
Disorganized, new hires train new hires, management favours and very unprofessional.
State morning hours then make you work evening hours.
Some staff work but some staff do little to nothing.
Don't recommend for anybody unless you desperately need a job.
This place is like going back to secondary school.
Little room to advance unless you are a manager.
    Unprofessional managers.
Simple responsibilities but managers make it sophisticated.
Small company run like a secondary school.
    Not recommended whatsoever!

    Pros

Good people and good environment; growing company with positive changes

    Cons

High turnover of younger staff and others who have been there for 20 years may not necessarily be doing a good job but have just settled in to their positions.
