I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

most of the people that work there are good people

    Cons

management has their heads up their butts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop treating the workers that keep the plant running like crap. Management couldn't even start the lines up if we left. Maybe you need to rethink how you treat us, and how you think the way it is now is gaining respect from any one because I'm sorry but it isn't.

I have been working at Nestlé USA

    Pros

Large, global company provides Jobs around the world and Opportunities to advance. Professional culture. Decent salary and compensation. Nice paid time off compensation. Safe environment and working conditions.

    Cons

The US division is going through new structure changes to become LEAN. Departments are downsizing personnel however increasing workloads and expectations.

Employees, not referring to management, are working longer hours, taking work home for the evenings and weekends, logging on during days off and on pto so our work doesn't bury us. There is no work / life balance anymore.

It's very hard to keep up to date on all the policy changes. It's fantastic that Nestle has well written policies but they change to often. Often the changes are communicated via email and the official policies or SOP's don't get updated for months.

Big organizational changes are not well thought out. Often these changes are discussed for a year however critical issues are glazed over leaving personnel without clear direction.

I used to feel really proud about working for Nestle and my department. However, over the past few years I've seen so much talent leave and so many employees who have been with Nestle for decades just frustrated over the changes. It's really become hard to do a fantastic job and feel proud of the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop promoting employees to management who are clearly not great people managers or who don't work well work their team.

There are issues with HR too. There is no such thing as a private conversation with HR. They always report back to management about conversations with employees.

I have been working at Nestlé USA

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule
    Great work life balance
    Free coffee

    Cons

    Lack of autonomy -job ownership
fails miserably to empower the staff sending the message that we have no clue cultivating I don't care attitude
management is secretive about department changes and Never asks for subordinate input on anything
open door policy is just lip service
absolutely no job training or development
    Work is boring and unchallenging
management does not delegate to allow movement into their position - the next step
good old boy club with clear favoritism
No appreciation for subordinates not even a Christmas card.
    Top heavy stagnant management
only career opportunities are if you leave the credit department or the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move on or move out. 2o+ years with the company has not mafe you better managers, just complacent. Time to retire, No need for so many managers in the credit department overall top heavy, cut the dead weight. Come out of the ivory tower and listen to the people who work for you and not to the kiss up managers who shop on line all day . Nestle wants all degreed staff so shouldn't the managers all have degrees? Geat at cultivating the I don't care attitude - you really have been successful in this one thing! !!

I worked at Nestlé USA as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Big company with name recognition. Helps to build resume. Decent attempt at being sustainable. Good benefits.

    Cons

Unprofessional environment - within department. The higher up people in executive positions display much more class and professionalism. Not flexible at all with hours and time. Not a family oriented company. Not loyal to its employees. Around 50% of the company in this location is contracted employees who are treated poorly. No room for growth

    Pros

Every day is a challenge because processes change daily. The office temperature is reasonable. The facilities are mostly well kept. Lazy employees get paid to spend their days socializing and complaining about their workload instead of tackling it. The managers here are all micromanagers, so no worry about doing your job wrong, they'll watch you do it and then follow up that you did it. If you are friends with the right people, and you don't rock the boat, you can have a long career here.

    Cons

There are micromanagers and politics galore here. Don't bother coming here unless you specialize in butt-kissery. They hire and promote friends over more qualified candidates. Nearly all office positions are exempt. They don't know what exempt actually means, so a common saying here is that you're hired for a job, which includes the phrasing that the job includes any and all other tasks as assigned. Thus if you are great at your job and get done timely, they will find more for you to do, rather than letting you only work 40 hours. They do this so you're forced to work more than 40 hours per week every week for only 40 hours of pay. They deny this during interviews. There is really high burnout and turnover here, whether it is actually quitting or moving laterally or demoting. Everyone wants out of certain divisions within NBS (except the shady butt-kisser favorites who do well there). Don't expect to be paid or treated fairly here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting the least qualified candidates and paying the lesser qualified employees more, just because they spend more time socializing with you than the high achievers with their nose to the grindstone do.

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time

    Pros

    --Classic CPG training & experience
--Progressive in improving marketing expertise and talent - creation & deepening of COEs
    --Meritocracy
--Multiple career-pathing in marketing - includes Shopper, Category/Sales, and Innovation rotations in addition to traditional brand management paths
--Scale of company allows tapping into vast network of strong experts & information
    --International opportunities
    --Great culture & working relationships
--Mobility highly valued (could be pro or con based on the person)

    Cons

--Largest CPG in the world, so processes in many aspects of work - stymies pace of innovation (company continually looking for ways to speed-up)
--Must make personal effort to expand network beyond local Nestlé campus
--Mobility highly valued (could be pro or con based on the person)
--Generally a late-adopter in disruptive marketing tactics or messaging due to conservative nature (company making headway with a couple brands, but tried-and-true marketing methods and messages easier to swallow for organization)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clear direction with organization goals and master plan, so maintain that message. Opportunitiies to move faster in stage gate process should be a higher priority to achieve results. Investing in brands through marketing may not pay out in one year, but will over the years if consistently investing and not cutting every year.

    Pros

Great Co-Workers, very polite and friendly. Good team atmosphere.

    Cons

Pay is always at the low end of the spectrum. No more Casual Fridays or Summer Hours. Arrogance of upper management towards consumers with overpriced product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop punishing employees for slow sales growth due to market conditions.
