Pros
If you are willing to work for it career promotion is quick and relevant to you aspirations.
Salary is competitive with a reasonable benefits package
Cons
A large amount of the central administration has been outsourced to Indian, quality and response times of information received is sub par for an organization of this size.
A very poor implementation of SAP has led to numerous business disruptions.
Solely reliant on BW reporting means a lack of live data on which to base decisions has led to very lengthy and long winded processes.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in an automate analytical system directly linked to SAP via SQL, enabling the use of user bespoke scorecards and dashboards in an aim to move away from unreliable spreadsheet reporting.
Pros
Good Benefits, Solid Systems (but too audit crazy in trying to sustain them)
Slow to move but finally getting SAP company wide.
Cons
Audit crazy, difficult to get job done when you are audited 12 times per year. Many people leave the company due to this and lack of resources in the factory environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Evaluate number of audits and staffing levels in factories. Turnover is very high and people are burned out quickly. Little support from "support groups," as they just add on the work and don't help. Good people are leaving for other up and coming companies, and internal Nestle recruiters do a horrible job finding good talent.
Pros
peers you work with are very smart
Cons
competitive environment pits people against each other
Pros
If you can stick it out for a couple of years you may move up.
Cons
Zero communication, pay scale, no incentives for doing a good job, you just feel like a number not an employee.
Advice to Senior Management
communicate to the merchandisers, and make them feel like an employee.
Pros
Pros
Very large company
Worldwide opportunity
Advancement priority for international experience
Exciting projects and lots of learning opportunities
Good diversity, in particular including Latin America and Asia
Great company to have on your Resume
Cons
Cons
Over-load in administration work
Internal processes complex and slow, often invisible
Little movement in the higher hierarchy
Slow in adopting new practice
Consensus-driven
Very little employee development, you are on your own
Management is too busy to even know your name
Very few women in management, glass ceiling
Advice to Senior Management
Stop the long term incentives. Long term employment is great, but there is a time when it becomes an incentive to "quit and stay". Not good for agility!
Pros
Nestle is a really large company with many opportunities for multicultural exchanges. In addition, as a very profitable company with constant growth, there is not much actual financial constraints to initiate changes that would be identified as required.
If your activity is related to the core business of the company, many opportunities to move exist.
Cons
No consistency across the divisions/country management of the company
The most dreadful HR department I ever met (no career management and in general after the recruitment, they try as much as possible to stay away from the management of the resources).
Highly bureaucratic (in several area, peoples that are supposed to check actions are more numerous than people that have to do them), in many cases what is important is not to do but how you communicate that you have been part of something that is seen as "strategic". Therefore it is not very important to deliver.
There is no real lessons learned from previous mistakes (as long as there is money to try again...)
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that Nestle principles are more than words on paper for HR departments and management staff
Pros
Benefits, Global market for financial stability and diversity of products
Cons
Bottom line cuts and job security
Pros
Great surpervisors, friendly co-workers, great benifits, and willing to work around your personal life if needed.
Cons
Pay starts at 9.50 so a little low and must be willing to work in extreme cold for long periods of times.
Pros
Company's name and global presence.
Cons
Low salary and semi closed communication
Pros
Strongest FMCG brands globally make Nestle an excellent place to develop your skills
Cons
Too big for comfort. One has to move on after reaching a certain level before getting sucked into z comfort zone
